I can't believe people are even arguing whether or not we should take a look at a talented player for a minimum contract. r****ded.

If he's better than Von Wafer, its worth it

...and that headcase talk is worthless. It doesn't affect championship caliber teams. If we are that, then we have nothing to worry about.

If you don't think he can help fine but arguing that its some huge risk to look at him for the minimum just doesn't make sense to me.

Clearly I understand what is being said, and as v3.0 articulated, if the vet's minimum is such a no-brainer, why haven't we signed Dikembe back yet?

That's exactly what I mean... the mentality that a few million isn't crap. Yeah, easy to say when it's not your money. I'm not saying clubs shouldn't spend the dollar when the time is right, but this is foolish, even at the cost of vet's minimum.

Those who drink the Francis cool-aid haven't had enough of it yet... still craving more - the Marbury flavor.

Picking up Marbury would reek of desperation. We already have a former all-star combo guard who hasn't done anything lately in Stevie. And I firmly believe that a healthy Francis would contribute more than Stephon. I'd much rather have a backup center for the veteran's minimum.

On the court, Artest and Marbury are 2 different players. One is a selfish ballhog who only looks for his shot (hint - his name is Marbury), the other is one of the best all around players in the game (hint - it's Artest). Artest was worth the miniscule gamble. Marbury would at the very least be a waste of time and at the most disrupt chemistry that we haven't even established yet with the new players.

The exact same thing was said about Artest while he was in Indiana and Sacramento. Artest was a cancer too. Why do you think they gave him away for Bobby Jackson? Why do you think no one made any decent bids for him?

Marbury is a minimal risk at a minimum contract.

at the moment we dont know when francis will be able to contribute and steph is healthy so thats a plus because honestly if rafer goes down and its all on brooks francis wont be ready and barry will be handling point but without battier how would we rest tracy and artest. we need a nother pg just in case and a pg that can score and that has been an all star, if its for cheap why not.

Only if he tattoos the Rockets logo on the other side of his head and acknowledges that he is a Yao Ming soldier.

I'm not sure if you read the thread properly but Marbury will be WAIVED by the Knicks. This means that they pay out his contract. If another team signs him got the vet minimum, they will not pick up his rediculous contract because it would be paid for already. The team that gets him would only add the vet min to their payroll.

I say we sign him then trade him (along with Alston) for a nice backup center with size. Then w e play T-Mac at point when battier comes back.

Even in Indiana and in Sacramento Artest was considered one of the best all around players on the court, the Lakers Nuggets and Mavericks were trying to get him this summer (you might want to keep up with NBA news every now and then). Artest's on court abilities were never questioned, in fact he got better as his career progressed.

Marbury on the other hand, has carved a negative portrayal basketball wise on himself to whatever latest team he was shipped off to. Talented? Yes. A great teammate? No. Plays team basketball? No. Looks for his shot before others? Yes. Chemistry killer? Yes.

Marbury is actually a decent citizen off the court with helping inner city kids and endorsing an affordable sneaker. Artest, well his non basketball related issues have been covered.

Bottomline, you people need to differentiate between what they can actually offer on the basketball court and just personality issues.

Basketball wise, Marbury is not a player I would want to handle the rock when you got so many offensive weapons around him, cause option A is clear to him.

    Again, a waste of time.

LOL I still remember Ron said that sh!!t when we got him. So yes if Marbury says that he wants to be Yao's soldier, I'd take him. Just can't stand his ego.

Signing Marbury is the equivalent of signing Michael Finley by the Spurs. It's like a FREE SUPERSTAR that you can pick up to add to your roster, you don't have to pay much.

Morey should negotiate and ask him to behave and only if he behave will he sign him to the Rockets. I am absolutely sure he would have no problem defer everything to Yao and Tmac....who wouldn't?? It's just natural behavior when you come to a situation like the Rockets. Artest has no problem...so why should he?? Beside, he will look at it as an opportunity to revive his career..i am sure he wouldn't want to screw up!

Adding Marbury will be an upgrade over Rafer any day! Simply because he attack the basket and not just settle for outside shots. And his shoot % is much higher.

You know what ....i just did a little research...and realize Marbury sucks as a 3pt shooter. He's not any better than Francis...and we already have Francis. He and Francis are similar type it seems except Francis is not a cancer. So i guess i should take my words back about signing Marbury. His 3pts shooting % is not any better than Rafer. But his overall % is much higher...that's cuz he attack the basket and get easy layups i think...making his overall FG% higher.
