if Marbury is such great no-lose insurance for a team ...... why is he getting cut from the Knicks? Surely he could provide the same for them.

Someone call D'Antoni and Walsh, stop them from making a great mistake!

borderline hall of famer? based on career 13.9ppg and 4.7 apg? If that were the case, Mike Dunleavy has a better chance making the hall of fame than marburied.

I'll take that risk of other teams signing him. In fact I want the other contending teams to sign him. Cause if history is an indicator, he'll blow that team up also just like his past teams.

Even Charles Barkley made a comment about players pasts when he was talking about Artest during the Mavs game (made some off the wall man killing family analogy). And while I don't agree about Artest's past coming back to rear it's ugly head, I certainly believe Marbury won't change his stripes even if he gets a new uniform.

Marbury only cares about Marbury, no matter which team he's on.

In fact, we should learn from the Francis situation that if another team wants you off the roster bad enough to swallow your contract, then other teams should take the hint that maybe you're not worth the headache of finding out if you can help the team.

Not saying he is a hall of fame caliber player. he's not.

Or that we should sign him. we shouldn't.

But. The numbers are closer to 20 & 8.

He'll get a shot somewhere. Its a good move for him and NY for him to get out.

    Stephan's career averages are:

    19.7ppg and 7.8apg

He is a headcase, but his talent is unquestioned....whether or not the Rockets think they can control him because they have such a stable team would determine whether they take a low risk on the guy.

I never understand why people would not take a free look, if he doesn't work out...cut him loose...big deal.

Yes, Sign him a big contract and then trade him for a star. It looks like a good deal. All minisota, NJ and Ph at least went to conference final after starberry left.

This is what is maddening....who the heck said that?

All that is being discussed here is picking him up for the VETERAN'S MINIMUM for the REMAINDER of the year IF HE IS CUT FROM THE KNICKS.

And if he doesn't work out, you cut him....no harm, no foul...

    There is no risk......NONE...NADA...SQUAT.....

He is probably better than Rafer, and that makes the team better...right away.

I don't get it.....a free look and people still say no.......Hey, here is $100....nah...no thanks, that $100 came from the toilet....

WHO CARES??? It is still $100....spend it, and wash your darned hands.

wouldn't want him on the team if he played for free. He is a jinx whose karma is terrible for any team. Don't see him adding any value greater than Brooks.

That is a legitimate argument, and one that I can understand.

I would take the low risk, you would not...fair enough.

It certainly isn't....but if you are saying it is a salary cap issue, then clearly you do not have a grasp of what is being said.

When he is cut....the KNICKS STILL owe him the money.....not the Rockets...picking him up, does not cost them 1 penny, except for the veteran's minimum contract they would offer for the remainder of the year.

Something like $1.2 million......hardly breaking the bank and half of what Steve Francis is getting for doing nothing.

my bad. I'll admit he is a rare talent. But his trigger happy disposition could disrupt the current chemistry, and his humongous salary is really the deal-killer here.

Steve Francis was a low risk signing

You know what he turned out to be?

    A Waste Of Time

and taking up valuable roster spot and money that could be going to Deke

Daryl Morey knows we really can't afford to be dicking around with anymore experiments and cross your fingers and hope it works out signings, we're better off trying to establish chemistry of what we got already, we are by no means a finished product and still have alot of kinks to work out.

And if someone brings up Artest and Von Wafer as examples of experiments they need to be cyberslapped for not knowing the difference between those 2 and signing someone like Marbury

Les is so cheap that he haven't sign Deke yet. Deke's leadership is very important for this team success and Deke deserved very much a last dance. Do you truly expect Moneyball will sign the NBA biggest loser ever and then cut him out? Come on!

Ron is totally different from Starberry. Ron is emotionally challenged. But he is relatively good on team BB and usually a good teammate. Starberry can't play team BB and had bad relationship with his teammate which made him always a lockroom cancer.

Yeah - you're right. Artest has been regarded as the most infamous cancer in sports for the better part of his career. The Marbury hate started around 3 years ago. We took a chance on someone who STARTED A FIGHT WITH FANS - how could we NOT give Steph a chance?
