I would say we overvalue him as a Rockets player.. but possibly undervalue as a trading chip. I pray we could be one of those teams, like the Lakers with Pau and GS with Baron , that gets a star player for basically nothing (Head). Git'r done Morey!
This is very true. Home team fans tend to over value their role players and even under value their stars. Brooks in the Next CP3, Novak the next Peja, Manu better than T-Mac, ect. If anyone knows how good or bad Luther really is, it would be Rockets fans. Nobody sees our players playing more than fans of the Rockets.
Head is what he is. He's a unsersized 2 that can't make teams pay for putting a bigger player on him. A younger Bobby J or Mike James is what the team was hoping for but quickly found out he's a standstill, no ballhadling, non penetrating guard which makes him situational like novak and head. Those guys like that are 10-12min guys on good teams. That's the problem with the Rox. They have 2 good all star players, 1 starter(scola), and 2 bench players in their starting lineup. The on the bench, they have 3 situational players, 2 of which are in the rotation meaning 20mins or so.
First to respond to this! It's best to wait and see if others find your overused joke funny before laughing at it yourself. At this point, the "head" jokes aren't nearly as funny as watching Luther Head try to play professional basketball.
Is BBq or Sour Cream an option on the chips? If yes, i say Morey should pull the trigger on this one.
Head's biggest problem is he can't make the entry pass to Yao. That makes his a liability on this team. Granted only Tmac can make a good entry pass but Head is the only guy who is terrible at it. Not a good thing for a small guard who is used as a pg sometimes.
I don't know why people say Head sucked all last season. Yes, his overall output went down last season, and he had a poor season shooting the 3, but he's proved he can do it in his sophomore season. He also improved in some aspects of the game, such as finishing at the rim (don't post the video of him dunking over Turiaf two years ago, I know) making many difficult layups by hanging in the air. I've been on a Rockets fix lately and watching a lot of the highlights from the BNBT tracker lately. He came in and provided a spark in a lot of games last year. Definitely degressed, but I think he was kind of like a rookie again, getting into a new system, he just didn't handle the transition well. Our system has a lot to do with spacing, and Head has proved in the past he can knock down the three very consistantly. I think another season, and he will prove his worth to the Rockets.
HE's Trash. if you think otherwise then you dont know talent. luther wouldnt get any PT on any of the contenders. he wouldnt play on LA, SA, celts, or the pistons. they dont pick up trash, they dont sign trash, and they dont trade for trash, i.e. luther head. biggest blunder: picking luther head over monta ellis. obviously golden state saw something in him. head of the "luther head is trash" fan club BigPun
As I have not done in about a month, it's time to be the voice of reason here: <object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/J2SJFTN_w-s&hl=en&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/J2SJFTN_w-s&hl=en&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="349"></embed></object> And if you were wondering, no. That guy never sent me the original clip.
One word....."Chump"! Luther is among the numerous chumps that we still have left over from the Van Gundy years. Get rid of this guy as well as any others that resemble a Van Gundy player. Ex. Chuck Hayes, Shane Battier.
I dunno, I had hoped he'd flourish a bit more, but with a change in coaches, Luther actually showed some versatility to his game by getting to the rim a bit more. I do have a problem with his entry passes, but .... stop letting him MAKE entry passes and that's fixed. His handling improved a bit last year, and he seemed to take to RA's system, but that doesn't mean he isn't presented with matchup problems (jazz) like many. I say, he gets one more year to show us what he's got and how far he's come... ok maybe half a year and if he doesn't ball, then quit playing him unless you KNOW the matchups will make him look good and then move him next season or before the break this year while other teams still think "Man, that guy can SHOOT."
