When you are top, why look beneath you?

OKC is 3 games behind the 3rd seed, which means to me, if they are still 5th seed then they deserve to be 5th. They would still have to play Twolves OR Spurs in the first, hardly a guarantee they get that far.

Let's get first and defend home court, that's a huge advantage.

Obviously you just get as high a seed as possible. However, if it were up to me, I'd want OKC to face GS in the 2nd round, since I think they have the best chance out of everyone (besides us) to take them out, and I'd much rather play OKC than GS. So, because that's what I want, I'm sure if the Rockets get the 1 seed, OKC will be firmly entrenched in that 4/5 matchup, but if we slump a bit and remain the 2 seed, they will jump up to 3. Just how it works so can't worry about it.

There is a long way to go and 3 to 8 in the West are congested together. You can not pick a match up, at least not yet. We should always try to get as good a record as possible to ensure home court advantage, especially for a potential game 7.

yes, we want the #1 seed

I’d rather face OKC in the 2nd round, but have HCA against GS in the WCF than not

having HCA against GS definitely boosts our chances

Will facing OKC in the 2nd round be tough? Sure, but c’mon now, the Rockets will be heading to the WCF if that’s the matchup. I like the wing defenders that we have to go up against PG and Melo, and I’m honestly not worried about Melo at all. Russ is an x-factor if he manages to be unselfish and efficient. Adams could be a problem. I expect the games to be close when the starters are in, but we will destroy them when they have to go to their bench. Not having Roberson greatly increases Harden’s chances of dominating them in a series.

You are aware that Cousins is done for the year right? He was one of the main reasons the Pelicans were a bad matchup for us.

I'm not worried about OKC yet. Let's see how we fare against them with CP3 this time.

You're asking if we want the home court advantage over the Warriors. Is that a serious question?

Rockets have proven themselves twice now getting to number 1 during the season.

I think we should drop to number 8 by playoff time.

“Rockets are quietly confident that they would smash the Warriors in a 7 game series.”

Ryan Anderson is soo much better on the Road might be better to not have homecourt so we get a good Anderson 4/7 games

Exactly, historical teams don't worry about homecourt or matchup.

Of course we want the #1 seed. If we can't beat scrub teams in 8th seed then we don't deserve to win the title. The most important thing is HCA throughout the playoffs.

Always play to win. Talking about matchups, the only team I do not want to face is the spurs. Say what you want, 7 game series against Pop is just no fun.

This thread is nuts. Nothing matters except beating GSW, and doing so is statistically so much less difficult at home than on the road. Historically, the difference between playing a game 7 at home vs on the road is worth approximately 6 to 6.5 points in the home team's favor.
