jevjnd, either Inside Stuff is wrong, or you're making that up. Dennis2112, I'm pretty sure that the bench press record is well above 600 pounds, because Larry Allen (G, Dallas Cowboys) maxed a little over 700 as of last season. And don't worry, jevjnd, Larry is certainly stronger than Shaq.
No man, believe it and as for that other remark Mr. Mean is Larry Smith not one of ill will. You jack-ass you're only mad because I think that Kirk Hinrich sucks, is he your boy friend or something? And trust me this is not something that I am making up. They did a report on the Lakers strength and conditioning and how great it was. This was approximately 2 years ago, as for the world record being 600 lbs., that's hardly the case. That might be the most that a body builder can lift but power lifters can lift much more. Take a look at Shaq, this dude is one of the biggest human beings out there and he can lift approximately 800 lbs.
I am going to find something better but here is an article giving you just a snippet of his strength. Didn't know that he could leg press over 1,000 lbs. did ya . Shaq Attack Workout
Hey Jev-Gnads, (a.k.a., "Mr. Mean", ha ha ha) Get a life and begin putting together complete sentences, you illiterate fool. Everyone laughs at you and your rediculous posts. By the way, for my amusement, what's your alma mater (that means, "what college did you graduate from")? Let me hear how great they're doing.
Benchpress and power lifting are 2 different things.. Power lifting is lifting weight while standing up and using your legs. Benchpress is using your arms while lying down on a bench. Get it right. The average lineman in college football should be able to power lift 800 lbs.
I was a bit behind in my number but there is no way on God's green earth that Shaq benchpressed 800lbs.
personaly i think if all we need was power we would sign 2 sandwhiches. But we don't need power at the sacrafice of talent.
Ah, so that's what it was. The guy didn't know the difference between benchpress and power lifting. Simple mistake, I suppose. And to confirm what Dennis2112 said, a 1,000-pound leg press really isn't that big of a deal.
um maybe willies lifted 420 thats what i was anyway. I wonder how much ming could leg press. He has some titanic looking legs.
I looked around the net a little bit, and best I could figure out, the bench press world record is 750.
Hey chill out there flamer if you spaz over incomplete sentences on a forum you are truly the jack-ass and notice that no one else is flaming here. My alma mater (which by the way for the 5th graders every one knows what that means). Is UCF so what if they don't win I don't flame people over that. Hell for all I know you're probably in middle school with that attitude of yours. Also for the last time, Mr. Mean is Larry Smith but I guess only true fans know that. Any way this is the last time that I am responding to you and your subject matters that consist of defending your soul mate Kirk Hinrich. *peace*
I think we should trade KT and Collier for a backup SG, then sign Oakley to a tiny contract. Then we'd also have potential to upset other teams. Cato/Ming/Oak MoT/Griff/Oak Rice/Nachbar/T-Mo Mobley/Acquired Defensive-minded guard Steve Francis/Moochie Norris Tell me that's not one fo the deepest teams in the league. Can anyone HONESTLY say Cato, Ming, Griffin and MoT won't play tougher with Oak pushing them all the way? But I, like everyone else, realize that Oakley can be bad for your team. But after the seaosn, when the players have a tougher mentality, and have learned some toughness, boxing out, basketball-smart moves from Oak, we just re-sign him. It's just for one year, to SLIGHTY bring that mentality into our players' minds. It's so clear that Chandler and Curry benefitted tremendously from Oakley. You just don't let him stay long and get comfy, that's all.
Peace unto you, too, jevjnd. We're rabid bball fans, so we do have commonalities. Probably would enjoy watching a game and throwing some suds down. I read the article you posted and realized that Shaq was either 1) leg pressing, or 2) dead lifting, the 1000#. There is no one in the world that can bench press 1000#. The most massive of all football players only hit around 550 - 600#. Shaq has 14% body fat, similar to professional defensive linemen in the NFL. On top of that, his arms are probably a good 6" to 8" longer than a big d-lineman. That makes it tougher to benchpress much weight. Your thoughts? Also, where is UCF? U. Cal. Fullerton?
Cool, squashed, and agreed. UCF is the University of Central Florida it is only a AAA school and isn't all that good. It's the college that Dante Culpepper of the, Minnesota Vikings graduated from.
I remember Bill Worrell saying that Kevin Willis benchpressed 400 pounds. This was with his first stint with the rockets.
jevjnd I took Culpepper as my fantasy QB his rookie year. Won the whole damn pool$! Boy, did I think I was smart. The next year (last year), I took McNabb and was humbled. Live and learn. Regarding Shaq's strength.... I would be astounded if he could bench more than 350#. I know he's incredibly strong; but for a guy with a reach like his to bench much would be surprising. Shaq's true strength is in his back, hips, and shoulders; as opposed to chest and arms. If you like strong chest/arms, see David Robinson, Willis, and, of course, Malone. Those guys are chiseled bodybuilders. Shaq's got what I call "old fashioned" strength. That is, he could probably pickup the back end of a VW and set it on a curb. You don't get that strength from lifting weights. It's innate. Liken his power to that of Jim Brown, John Elway (the strongest QB to ever play the game), or, say Hershel Walker (who never lifted weights, but did 2000 pushups and 5000 situps every day). Shaq's strength is unique in basketball. A shift of his hips throws big players around like flies; a shoulder to another's chest is like a cannonball; when he grabs an offensive player's elbow (which is a "hold" he's perfected), it's probably like a vise grip. In other words, Shaq has "man" strength like no other. Could you imagine him lined up as a defensive end? They'd have to triple-team him or the QB's would be toast!
