At least it's been done. When's the last time a team won without an elite interior defender? Never. Anyway your argument is pointless, you evaluate teams based on where they are now and what they need, not some blanket statement about what a team needs to win a title. But even if we were talking in terms of blanket statements, we all know defense win championships, and we happen to be a top 3 offense and 25th ranked defense. I see no line of reasoning that leads to "we need a no defense all offense guy like Carmelo Anthony".
i think your wrong, so your saying if we somehow acquired lebron or wade or westbrook or rose, we would be contenders for the chip? no way! we'd still lack a center. gasol, bynum, odom duncan, blair, mcdyess ibaka, perkins, durant gortat, frye, lopez millsap, jefferson, okur nene, andersen, martin gasol, randolph, gay hayes, scola, patterson do you see the difference here? adding anything but a star center wont get us past any playoff team because they all have 7 ft'ers that can rebound and that dont just do nothing like miller. now take scola out and add howard. that makes us scary good.
Well at least its been done! That is good enough for me! Why is my argument pointless? Because you disagree with it? At what point did I say we didn't need defense? I said better D makes us a playoff team but to truly compete we needed a superstar on top of that. If we had Carmelo, wouldn't you think it would be easier to get players such as Chandler to join this team?
No trigger to be pulled. We didn't have Jeff Green and taking on Nate's 6M for next year would have sucked.
You're basically saying nothing now. If it were that difficult to land Chandler what makes you think we can land Anthony? "we need star
Err firefox froze. You're basically saying "we need star players to get star players, so let's go get a star player!"
the more i watch Lowry, the more i think we've found our franchise pg. I really love his game. I think if we could upgrade the 3 or 4 position, then we would be one superstar away from being contenders.
Adelman's offense is based on passing, but the lack of a superstar hurt his chances of winning a title with the Kings, despite the terrible referring in the Lakers/King series. They didn't have a go to guy. Defensively, they were good but far from being great. This roster plus a developing Thabeet is not going to be a contender IMO,even if Battier comes back. We need a star like Dwight,to propel us toward championship glory. The injuries to Yao have really hurt us a great deal. I'm not trying to undermine our recent performances, but we have a long way to go.
I swear you must be around 15 years old because you are so damn egocentric. Look at this a different way. The Champs: Spurs started with Duncan and added guys like Parker and Manu, veteran players who were excellent role players signed with the Spurs because of Timmy. Lakers had Kobe and added Shaq, players such as Payton and Malone signed with the Lakers to play with them. After the Shaq and Kobe era they added Gasol, players like Artest signed with them to play with Kobe. Celtics had Pierce and they added Garnett and Allen, guys like the O'Neals and Wallace signed to play with those guys. Heat had Wade, added Shaq to play with Wade. I have no idea how you got that "difficult to land Chandler what makes you think we can land Anthony?" from, did I say it was easy? All I am saying is that if we had a superstar it would make everything else much much eaiser. There is a reason why we haven't won a championship for so many years, and guess what we had a superstar called Hakeem.
Haha can't believe I wasted all that time when this was all that needed to be said, it is a proven formula.
Yeah you're right, it's like when the Pistons signed Wallace and McDyess with all those superstars. You have no idea what you're talking about, players go to where they can win, and a defensive center allows us to win a lot more games than any other u
Who needs a superstar PG when our PG eats superstars for dinner? Unless, of course, that superstar is Deron Williams... who I think has easily become the best PG in the game.
We have a team of role players built around a superstar that is injured. Instead of trying to get a superstar to play with those role players, we should get more role players! Since you are still throwing around cheap shots I will too, you need to watch more basketball, learn a bit more about basketball history, work harder on your grammar and post less. I won't be addressing you anymore; you are one of the worst posters on this forum and I will finally place you on ignore.
lol... Anyway, I've clearly proven that teams with no superstars have no problems finding complementary players to add to their team, as I showed with the Pistons adding Wallace and McDyess. Every contender in the last 20 years that's had no superstars has had no problem finding guys to make them better. Good day now.
We're already a playoff-caliber team. That's not to say we will definitely make it in this season, luck and schedule always come into play to an extent, but we're good enough to make the playoffs with the exact team we have now. A good defensive center would take us from "good enough to make the playoffs" to "top five seeds". And a good defensive center, while hard to find, is still easier to find than a superstar. It might also be just as big of an upgrade, because we already have really good players at PG, SG, and PF, but we don't have a single good, true center (Hayes is a PF in my opinion).
A guy like howard would look at the rockets pg situation as inferior to what he has now. He would view Williams as a superstar player and a bigger upgrade than what he has now. As I said in another thread, if Orlando blinks and do what Utah did and trade Howard during the season, the rockets would then be in a great position to get williams via free agency and vice versa. Howard can deliver williams and vice versa. Lowry cant deliver howard. Not a knock, just what I think.
