McGrady is a half court player, absolutely does not fit with the teams design. Better than Garcia? Sure... Better fit? No... Its not gonna happen and i wouldn't honestly ensure it either, and tmac was my fave player, even before being traded here... As for the OP, of course... Although del3no is already an asset, as well as Garcia... Just not of the young variety... I fully expect Morey to target a young sf with potential, because in order for us to receive the next superstar, he will have to be included and we need someone to hopefully be able to fill in his absence, hopefully...
Delfino isn't goin anywhere (unless he's part of a package for a superstar)... at 3M team option - he's a deal... Garcia on the otherhand, prob didn't even unpack his bags... at 6M - he's toast... so.... no, we're good at sf with one of the most economical duos in the league with Parsons and Delfino... and if Delfino goes out in a trade for Kevin Love... well, DM will pull an adequate cheap backup with a second round pick, or from Europe, or from wherever....
That depends on if they need that cap space or not .... I'd wager he gets cut tho I wish they could find a way to retain him.
As someone who saw him in person here in Qingdao, I will say that McGrady will not contribute much in the nba. The nights he scored thirty here in china he was a spot up shooter that played no defense and walked up the courts. And I love Tmac, 13 for 30 was the best thing ever. But I will say he just looks way older than Kobe right now although they are the same age.
Even with Parsons, Delfino, Garcia and Honeycutt on the roster, Morey was rumored to be interested in Omri Casspi. So yes, regardless if Delfino is kept, Morey will always be looking to upgrade. And no question, Garcia is gone before next season.
According to a report, the Rockets are currently scouting and interviewing Linos Chrysikopoulos. He's a small forward - point forward type of player. I posted about it here: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=235393
It would ideal to find a veteran type who can produce a bit more consistently than Delfino has. Not that I have any problems with keeping Delfino for next season, judging from his interview where he says Houston helped him find the love of basketball again, it means he's really trying and going to try for the team. On the subject of signing T-Mac to play off the bench, I agree that it should be a matter of how much money he wants (whether that'll affect our cap space if we don't land a Howard/Paul/Smith) for the next summer. There's also the matter of his 'pride', will he accept a backup role, or less, depending on other roster moves. He's probably thinking he can ball in the NBA again after 'getting fit' in China, like all great players, his mind is always telling him he's the best, it's just his knees, back and shoulder etc that's holding him back.
Yeah, to me "assets" are guys who mainly have value as trading chips, not guys you get to fill your rotation. How about "Do we need to add a SF?"
I agree, Mcgrady could provide more for the Roxs as a humbled veteran now. It'll be cheap so why not the low risk high reward. Even as he ages he still has his bag of tricks kind of like kobe and can provide much more than what Garcia gives us night to night. A T-Mac uniting would be great but man do we need Victor O, hes the next Big Thing, dudes gonna translate well into the NBA. Harden and him would rack up fouls on a nightly basis with their aggressive drives in the lane.
"JUST CHANDLER" I think there is some serious under-appreciation for who Chandler Parsons is now, and what he will be in the future for this team. Lets keep in mind that he's only in his second year, and still has a ton of upside left to grow into. If you are looking to upgrade the SF spot there are very few guys in the league worthy of moving Parsons, playing him out of position at the 4, or sending him to the bench to play a lesser role. The only 3's I would consider an upgrade from Parsons right now, and for the future would be - -Lebron -Durant -Melo -P. George Everyone else is pretty much a wash ALREADY, and most of those players have limited upside. I am totally fine with the 3 spot moving forward.
Would you rather have D-wade or Parsons? Don't get me wrong parsons is one of my favorite rockets aside from harden and I'm not saying trade him but its always smart to build through the draft. Kind of like how you see Oklahoma having Durant and Westbrook but also a young stud in Lamb waiting to arise. Not big on most drafts guys but Victor already has lock down D and reminds me of a mixture of D-wade and MJ... yeah i said it, Micheal Jordan! He doesn't have to start/Parsons is safe but he can grow and provide instant offense/much needed defense from the bench. We have plenty of rookie assets to use besides the main ones we will probably use such as Asik to get Love after a Dwight run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6lnyVQe6fM
