I love now CFs no so little about basketball that they think "tanking" for the 13th spot in the draft makes sense, lmao.

Well right now the Rockets would have the 12th or 13th pick, going on a 'unfortunate' losing streak may place the Rockets in the top 10 depending on how the Warriors and Clippers finish the season.

Tanking doesn't make sense this season, but it did in 2006.

If we don't make the playoffs, I want Memphis to make it. That way we have a greater chance of getting a first rounder from the Grizzlies. Also, Morey wouldn't have to worry about trading down if he thinks the player he wants will still be available in the mid 20s.

Phoenix has the 14th spot, so they can tank to get the 13th spot.

The Rockets have to start winning, not tanking to get the 13th spot. They are currently in the 12th spot in the lottery and last pace in the division, while playing their best.

Never Tank... unless there is a Tim Duncan, Jordan, Hakeem, etc. level talent...

We can't make the playoffs at this point anyway, and it's been true for awhile now. Drives my crazy to keep seeing Feigen articles saying the Rockets are running out of their margin for error -- the margin is gone, dude, they're out. Please face the reality.

Give the Suns the win. It helps our draft position twice over. A win does absolutely nothing for us.

When you're playing basketball and you're down 10 with 2 minutes left, what do you do? You sound like you'd just go sit on the bench.

In this analogy, it's more like we had 20 seconds. Just dribble the ball out and regroup for tomorrow's game.

Not that we don't want the same thing, but we're 3 games out of the 8th seed with 15 games left. I think you have more time on the clock than 20 seconds..

quit worrying about draft picks man, there are no promises when it comes to drafting...some of the best all time nba draft picks aren't near the top of the pull.
    do you play fantasy leagues????

too bad the 15 players in the locker room don't see it your way and are frankly offended by fans like you.

Ignoring the hindsight and contrived hypothetical...I feel like that's wishful thinking

2007 - Yao, Tracy, Rookie Roy with no Battier
    2008 - Tracy, Roy
2009 - Yao, Roy for the first round until Yao's injury is discovered

And of course we'd also be saddled with yet another injured player, which just further shows how unpredictable things can be.

But wait, does a win do anything for the Suns either? Won't they also be trying to lose?

While we're at it, maybe we should just try scoring in the the Suns basket and they can try scoring in ours, then the "winner" loses.

Best case I'd say, we end 10-5 for a final record of 43-39. We would need 3 of the following 6 scenarios to occur (roughly, because I don't want to look up the tiebreakers):

    * Utah finish 8-7 or worse.
    * Phoenix finish 9-9 or worse.
    * Memphis finish 6-9 or worse.
    * Portland finish 5-11 or worse.
    * New Orleans finish 3-11 or worse.
    * Denver finish 3-13 or worse.

One might happen (Utah), maybe two if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot yet again (unlikely), but 3? If it was one opponent and I knew both teams were going to get 15 more attempts, okay; but we're playing 3 on 1 here.

Too bad waxing offended won't get them into the playoffs. They should be offended by the games they gave away by playing like **** to put themselves in this position in the first place. I'm not the one who took them out of the race.

you have a point, the rockets have let down in spots where they had ample opportunity to get ahead.

If you look at Mock Drafts, and if we want to draft a center, there will most likely be one available late in the first round no matter where we land.

Rick Adelman didn't become one of the most winning-est coaches in the NBA by tanking ever. If The Rockets tank, it won't be on his watch.
