Me, I'd like to see that guy come in the form of a power forward, maybe to replace MoT. Because I feel like Ming/Francis/Mobley/Griffin need an enforcer to lay down the law for them if play gets too physical.
hmm Mobely plays like 42 min, what backup? So though I wouldn't agree that SG is the weakest link for a championship ring, it's definitely up there with the fourth spot. Easiest way of diagnosing this is looking at the SGs of team we'll have to probably pass: SG: Doug Christie, Michael Finley, Stephen Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Bonze Wells. I really don't see Mobley getting any sort of upperhand against these 6'6" athletic playoff experienced(exception jackson) two guards in the playoffs. SF: Peja, Andrian Griffin, Bruce Bowen, Rick Fox, Scottie Pippen...I think Glen rice and James Posey can almost hold their own. PF: Webber, Dirk, Duncan, Samaki, and Rasheed....Griffin and Mo might have a tough time but at least they are not undersized except against Duncun. PG: Bibby, Nash, Parker, Fisher, and Derek Anderson....Francis should do all right though Nash seem to have his way with Francis. So clearly 2 and 4 spots are our winkest link against the top teams in the west. C: Divac, LaFrenz or Bradley, Shaq and Robinson....Yao and Cato should give us the upper hand.
wow did someone said Mad max and judgement in the same context But really, please, don't compare Mad Max with Cat, now you are really comparing Michael Jordan with Mario Elie... Maxwell is an underachiever but Cat is an overchiever. Max missfires due to lack of judgement and unwillingness of the rest of the club other than Olajuwon to shot the ball, Cat missfires b/c of pride and ego. Max played tenacious defense, Cat tenaciously try to gain fame by hiring a PR and modeling while playing lackadaisical defense Max played to win, Cat plays to get on TV. And yes, Max's reaction at the end of his term with the Rockets was due to his lack of judgement but lets not forget his about heroics down the stretch in the playoffs....afterall was it not his 37 point effort in the land of the Suns in third game that gave us the name 'Clutch City'? so at the end please no more Cat is a better SG than Mad Max crap....
Don't you hate it when some guy posts 4 replies in a row? Anyway I just want to add that Max was alot better passer than Cuttino.....and no it probably doesn't show on the stat line but its true...in fact does Cuttino have really any assists other than Ally-ups to Steve? I don't remember the last time the guy actually penetrated and dished, I guess being on the floor 42 min a game kind of force you to give up the ball sometimes.
Not really..HP usually points out facts that can be verified.......UNlike your comparison of Max and Cat, where you have to mention that the facts are contrary to your conclusion.
I've said it all year... Come playoff time, no one will want a piece of the Rockets. We will make some noise. Have patience.
Please entertain me and actually point out how my facts are contradictory to my conclusion...BTW you do see the irony of me having to ask, right?
I think the only teams with the personnel to win the ring is the team that wins the ring. Look at last yr with the Kings. They owned the best record last yr and took la to 7 games, yet they've added Jim Jackson(someone i wished the Rockets would have gotten to back up Mobley) and Keon Clark. They didn't or haven't rested on their laurels as did the lakers. This yr , the Lakers will pay if they don't add someone to the mix. Personally, I think the Rockets have the players to win the ring, but a matter how fast is the question. Every yr when a team makes the playoffs, they have to ask themselves if they have enough to win it. We must remember, Only divac on Sac is old, no one is old in Dallas and only Miller is old in Indy. So , its not like these teams are alo and making their last run at the ring like the Raiders in football. These teams will be here for at least the next 4 or 5 yrs if given good health. The Rockets can become one of those teams also especially with a mature Ming taking more of the offensive burden upon his shoulders in yrs to come. I'm not a fortune teller, but i think with a few adjustments in the strategic category here and there, the Rockets can become a real force.
