Chuck can manhandle B.Griff under average number. It's the P&R that i am worry about!!!!! djfkaj;fdaf can't wait till i get off from work and go home to watch the game
Was Amare trying to back Chuck down when he got shut down? The way to stop a stud athlete like Griffin is with anticipation, lateral quickness, being physical -- that's Chuck Hayes. The guy is 6'8 with short arms, so I don't think lack of height is going to be the key factor. If Chuck can stay between Griffin and the rim, he'll have done his job. Griffin may go off, because he's really good, but I think that Chuck gives us our best chance defensively against him. As I said in an earlier post, the most difficult task Chuck will have is keeping him off the glass. Griffin has, what, 16 straight double-doubles?
Ofcourse he's not on the level of Dirk and Gasol yet but if we don't box him out GOOD, he will kill us with offensive rebounds. I hope Griffin's talents don't get wasted on the Clippers.
At this point of his career, compared to Gasol 25 games into his rookie season, he is leaps and bounds ahead. This guy is the real deal. Anyone who thinks he is not a superstar is crazy. Double team may be necessary, but you can't go and leave Gordon, he is lights out. The Rox should be able to score enough points to make Griffin a non-factor. But let me be the first to say, he will have 30 and 15 tonight.
Yeah, uh...yes he is .....and he is only going to get better. He is a lot more than NICE.....he is flat out amazing, and his athleticism is mind blowing, you can see other team's benches freaking out about it. DD
The rest of their team has not figured it out yet....it has taken them to this point to run a good amount of the offense through Blake and Gordon, their chemistry is off...but if they keep that team together for a couple of years, they are going to be amazing. DD
Did this really need its own thread? There's the game thread then there are like 4 frigging Griffin threads more.
just use the hack-a-shaq method when he starts rolling down the lane. the guy is a terrible ft shooter for a guy with a very nice stroke. and no need to double team yet b/c he's not experienced to take over a game consistently yet. next year, he will require double teams all game though.
that is scary considering what Durvasa said that he's been making double-double and won 3 in a row without the "chemistry".
I also believe that Chuck will be able to limit Griffin. The main reason is because Griffin is still a rookie, and Chuck is a style of defender he has never faced before. Chuck is a short but very strong center. He has a lower center of gravity which makes pushing him off the block a lot harder. Being shorter doesnt limit chucks speed either though thus he will keep up with Griffin. Thus, while I do believe that Griffin will be a phenomenal player (or is already), he is still a rookie and has to learn new things. Chucks defense will be something new, and that isn't learned in just one game.
Quick yes or no questions. Do you live in the greater LA area? Do you have League Pass? Your comments indicate you haven't watched Griffin except for SC highights.
Our only hope is to play miller and scola together to force him to play D, then on the other end, flop with a straight face!
WHAT? Seriously you have not watched him play if that is what you think, he has a post game, he has the Tim Duncan backboard shot, he has a spin move, he can dribble. This guy has SUPERSTAR written all over him. I would trade any 3 players on the Rockets for him today ....any ! DD
For cripes's sake, people I'm not claiming Griffin sucks. I have watched him play, and I don't think he is ALREADY at the level of a prime Gasol, nor is he currently as dangerous as Dirk or Gasol in their primes. I'll go ahead and guarantee that Blake will not be a top 5 All-time player. That's all. That doesn't mean he's a threat, but Griffin cannot beat us all by himself, and outside of Gordon, there's no one else on that team playing who doesn't make me laugh. We aren't playing the Superfriends, or the Mavs, or any of the elite teams in the league. We're playing the Clippers. And while Blake is good, the fact that we have people here panicking about playing the Clippers is irritating.
I would put Shane Battier on him. Griffin doesn't have any post moves so his strength advantage is useless. The key to limiting Griffin is boxing him out and Battier does a good job of that. Plus Battier's veteran wiles will flummox the rookie. Maybe not in two or three years from now, but right now Battier would be a good defender on Griffin.
