What leads you to beleive Morey hasn't pursued him?

    Lets look at Maggette's options.

    1. Stay where he is a sign a deal for more the MLE
    2. Sign with with the current champion for MLE.
    3. Sign with last season's champion for MLE.
    4. Sign with the Rockets for MLE.

hmmm. Maggette seems to have lots of great options ...so I'm guessing the Rockets called him and he told the Rockets don't bother.

thats right, dun forget ROX's unique advantage--shoe deals...
imagine what kind of shoe deal can maggette get? no offence, even chuck hayes can have a shoe deal... shane battier's commercial runs almost 24/7 in China...
it will be sweet if we can get Maggette...

    Well...

I believe this is how it should really go.

    1. Stay where he is a sign a deal for more the MLE
    2. Sign with with the current champion with an aging roster for MLE.
    3. Sign with last season's champion with an aging roster for MLE.
    4. Sign with the Rockets who's stars aren't even 30 yet for MLE.

I think if he looks at it that way, then we could still have a better chance than the Celtics and the Spurs. (Even though he probably might not do that.)

I believe the Clips renounced his rights to make room for Davis, and with Davis and Brand back they are over the cap can't offer more than the MLE and may not even have an MLE. Maggette is not going to be a Clipper, so scratch that. #1.

Also the likely scenario, not listed above, is some team with caproom (6ers, Clips, Grizz, Bcats) says holy cow, I can land Corey Maggette for the bargain of 7-8 mil a year. Of course this is after all the 1st rate prospects like Josh Smith, Gordon and Deng get matched, if they even are attempted to land.

I am very confident Maggette ends up not taking the MLE. And yes if he did the Rockets would be down the list. Celts, Spurs, Pistons, and the rising team I think he would most help, the Hornets. Out with Mo Pete and in with Maggette could make that team a legit Co-fav in the West. He could also keep his home and just sign with the Lakers to be a majro upgrade over their multiple headed (Sasha/VR/Walton/Arizra) not always effective swingman opposite Kobe (scary thought) .

But luckily I don't think we see Maggette going anywhere for the MLE, there are enough teams with cap room and he is a bargain to be had as the best URFA available.

if he wants playing time and be on a championship caliber team, then the spurs are the way to go. he won't get much with pierce and ray occupying the 2/3 spots with the celts.

he will get at least 25 mins with us b/c tmac and shane are willing to give up minutes.

i don't thik he'll be back with the clips.

I think he'll end up w/ Orlando... He says that he wants to play in Orlando... Now that Duhon agreed to sign in NY, the Magics' main focus is w/ CM now...

Report: Maggette has offer on table from Bostonby FOXSports.com

Updated: July 5, 2008, 10:14 PM EST 13 comments add this RSS blog email print Clippers free agent Corey Maggette is considering an offer from the Celtics.

Boston has offered Maggette the full midlevel exception, worth around $5.8 million, the Boston Globe reported, citing an NBA source.

Maggette averaged 22.1 and 5.6 rebounds for the Clippers, who missed the playoffs after going 23-59.

The Celtics have also talked to the Blazers' Darius Miles, the Hornets' Chris Andersen, the Pacers' David Harrison and the T-Wolves' Kirk Snyder, the paper reported.

Looks like the only FA's we're interested in are those close to retirement. I guess that's how we're going to win now, by seeking players who can score.
The hell with someone athletic, and long who can back up Ming and McGrady when their injured. Not to mention a 3rd option when our offence gets stagnant.

    Maggette? Corey Maggette available?

Well if the Rockets can unload Steve Francis, Chuck Hayes, and still keep Carl Landry and have enough to go for Corey Maggette, then yes, I say go for Corey.
