What the Texans really need is a new coach and a new system. Lovie Smith would be my guy or search for another coach that has a lot of experience. Keep Keenum and draft an offensive tackle in the first round. Just my thoughts.
I don't know, maybe they can trade Jackson or J-Jo for a right tackle. It's not like they need those guys. They can figure out something but a rookie isn't probably going to solidify that line but Jackson or J-Jo could probably be replaced with a rookie (like Verrett). I'm thinking the Texans will end up with the #1 or #2 pick and I believe they should trade out of it but they may take Clowney and that wouldn't be a bad thing.
While I would also love to have the next "it" guy on our team like Kaepernick, Luck or RG3, I just don't think that is the way things are going to shake out. First of all, I don't think Mariota is going to come out. If he doesn't, then we only go QB with the first overall pick. We are obviously not going OL with the first pick for the reasons that have been mentioned (we are set at LT, the only value position on the line with that high of a pick). That leaves Defense or trade down. My hopes: 1 - Clowney 2 - Boyd 3 - Skov 4 - BPA at TE, NT or CB 5 - BPA 6 - BPA 7 - BPA

Walter Football's (pretty good site) from 11/27: Texans 1st rounder: Texans 2nd Rounder: They also have Will Sutton DT, ASU available at our pick in the 3rd round. I think those 3 would be a phenomenal draft, but it's obviously early and lots left to be played/scouted.
I like AJ McCarron. He's a winner. Not racist but u don't want a black qb. Name the last black qb to win a Super Bowl
Well to be fair up until the mid ninties, there were only like two in the league at ay given time... something tells me that you will see more black QBs winning in the not too distant future. I just hope ESPN doesn't treat any such event as the second coming of MLK. And Offensive Coordinators will have to dumb down their playbooks a bit, only kidding.
you get jake matthews or clowney...if keenum has more time to throw instead of running for dear life, then he will be fine...or another defensive end to pair up with jj.
i actually say we take clowney..having watt and clowney on the same line is just to good to pass up..stick with case as a starter..draft a qb in the later rounds(2nd or 3rd)..hopefully with the new coaching staff the offence will be better..defense wins championships..
2 weeks ago they had us taking Mike Evans with the 5th pick which I found ridiculous. So I'm not totally down with their mock drafting abilities. It doesn't help that his draft order is based on his own personal power rankings rather than the standings which actually determine the draft order. It's also odd that he doesn't include Mariota in his mocks. Some people don't include underclassmen until they've declared, but then he includes Manziel.
meh, he's had the best offensive line in college football, great running backs, and a top 5 defense for his entire career.
Doug Williams... But to be fair _ it's not like the black quarterbacks have had the opportunity. And AJ lost last night by the way...
Wait...so it's skin color? That's the deciding factor in whether you can win a Super Bowl? Really? Skin color?
Not saying to avoid it... just saying not to reach for it. Use the fact that a lot of teams covet the most important position on the field, and will be willing to give lots of value picks to get somebody that you may not be as high on as the media is. If you can trade down, and get more picks for impact positions that this team absolutely 100% needs, they can be better off in the long run... instead of picking a "franchise QB" that is more media-driven hype than actual substance.
I think that mock draft is under the assumption the Texan get the #2 pick and Teddy is off the board. But I still believe Hundley and or Johnny will be there in the 2nd... And guys like Boyd and Murray will be there in the 3rd... Not many teams are looking for starting QBs...
Since there are so many good QB's available this year it's going to be hard to get a nice offer from another team to move up.
If there is even a franchise QB in this draft... Logan Thomas might be the best NFL QB prospect and he can be had in the 4th or 5th round.
IF the Texans end up with the #1 pick _ Jacksonville and Cleveland may give them whatever they want...
Why give up the farm to move up for Bridgewater when you can stay at your pick and get Mariota, Manziel, or Carr?
