Shouldn't you be more concerned about the HC?

A strong, smart HC will get smart people as assistants. Look at BB, the Pats have gone through numerous OC's and DC's and won.

Last point on "God like QB's"..... look at the overall year to year consistency of winning by guys like Manning, Brady, Elway, Montana, Young, Unitas and the other super elite QB's.

The REAL question is whether there is a guy like that in this draft.......

Those teams know that. Offer Aaron Rodgers for Jay Cutler and see what happens.

How well did those teams do with those players compartively to Brady and Rodgers?

I do not disagree with you that a creative, good OC can make a pedestrian QB look better... but that does not apply to guys like the elite QB's, they are just better.

if we are drafting top 10, a QB just seems like a bad value play based on the level of talent coming out this year.

to me there just isn't that big of a drop-off between Bridgewater and Hundley?

it's unfortunate there isn't a Luck / RG3 level prospect coming out this year, but you have to play the hand you're dealt.

If the Texans believe that there is no special QB in this draft, then they shouldn't draft a QB in round 1. However, if they believe that Mariota or Bridgewater is a franchise QB, they need to do what is necessary to get them in a Texans jersey.

no disagreement there...just against the notion of a drafting a QB out of desparation.

Still think Keenum has potential to be really good in the right system with adequate protection, but, no doubt, he has declined in recent games. But who knows why? He played better against the better teams. Perhaps Kubiak has coached him into mediocrity.

I speak for a lot of us here, please shut up about the Cam vs. Luck crap. It's gotten old and you haven't convinced anybody.

Not sure why people think a QB isn't necessary to draft in the 1st round.

Yes, this team has LOTS of holes, but QB is BY FAR the most important position on the field. Adress that first, than get pieces around him.

    this

Pay whatever consultants you need to evaluate this QB class and if you identify a QB with the potential to be elite, draft him. Under no circumstances do you settle and draft a Schaub/Dalton level qb.

if you don't believe in any of them, draft Clowney or trade down for more picks

Cam Newton beats Luck in completion %, passing td's, rushing yards, and yards per attempt, and passer rating

RG3 beats Luck in completion%, passing yards, yards per attempt, and rushing yards

Russell Wilson destroys Luck in completion%, yards per attmept, rushing yards, and passer rating

why is Luck the best young qb in the NFL again... you can listen to the propoganda in the media if you want, but i watch the games with my eyes.... and Luck is the 4th best young qb in the nfl..... maybe 5th if Kaepernick gets his wr's back.... being the best qb isnt always about wins and losses... Matt Ryan is better than Alex Smith but unfornately he doesnt have the wins this year( does that mean he sucks).... how good was brady without gronk lol earlier this year, you are only as good as the talent around you... unfornately when i evualate the young qb's, RG3 was outplaying Luck even withreggie wayne on his team earlier this year... Rg3's best weapon is Garcon who is undersized and cant go deep

Chiefs remind me alot of the up and coming Texans with their fearsome pass rush and running game but extremely suspect in other areas

Teams are taking away the deep ball and Case is struggling to hit the intermediate routes (ie taking what the defense gives him). A large part of that is that he does not have time to make a 2nd or 3rd read due to our piss poor pass blocking. Virtually no run game isn't helping either.

I think Case still has a lot of potential, but he has a lot of development to do. He's essentially a rookie playing in a crap offense. Defenses have adjusted to his tendencies (taking away deep ball, keeping him in the pocket), so now he has to respond and make them respect him in the short and middle range.

That said, if we get the #1 or #2 pick, which looks to be almost a lock at this point, you have to go QB. I think any coach other than maybe Sumlin is going to want that too.

who said he was the best though? seems like when the season ended last year all the hype was more geared towards wilson, kaepernick, and rg3. cam newton had a sophomore slump w/ a bad team last year. cam is probably getting the most media love this year out of all the qbs named above

maybe you are smart( thinks for yourself), and dont worship what bspn is spewing week in and week out when it comes to the young qb's in the nfl. Its obvious they were hoping the read option qb's would fail this year... what was the talk in the offseason mainly about in the nfl( TRYING TO STOP THE READ OPTION). Well turns out even without the read option these young qb's are still damn good lol... so because the media cant say Luck has better stats than RG3 this year... they move on to other things like leadership, attitude, losing the locker room. Its a no win situation for Griffin... they never could have invisioned RG3 being more accurate than Luck in the NFL.... Colts fans are already screaming for the Colts OC Pep Hamilton to be fired( remmeber just last year they fired last years OC, and brought in Luck personal oc from stanford this year).... this reminds me of Alex Smith when he was going through coaches and offensive coordinators left and right on the 49ers... unfornately RG3 is stuck with a wannabe oc in kyle shanahan who is only in the nfl because of his dad, its a testament to his arm talent and work ethic that he has the stats he has

I know a lot less about this than people who do it for a living....but I'd take Bridgewater. I could not care less about how Louisville disappointed people this season. That's not what I'm interested in. He looks like an NFL QB to me. A guy who is already making adjustments before the snap. I think he has the potential to be elite. I'd be thrilled if the Texans drafted him.
