Give me Magette. He is close to taking his game to the next level. He is strong, young and a very good man defender. I don't care if it costs us Posey, give me Magette at the full MLE for 4-6 years. Move Mobley to the bench or trade him.
And what happens when the Clips match. Have we lost or raised the price of Posey and also pissed off Mobley. I would like to have Maggette too but there are lots of risks pursuing him and w/o being able to offer more like 7 mil per year the Clips will almost assuredly match. We could wait and see if the Clips spend more than they want on Brand, Odom and Dre and then go for Maggette but it is extremely remote only the MCE would land him. For now we should not waiste our time with the Clips RFA unless it is a S & T.
I don't want Juwan, unless it is for cheap in a reserve roll. He has butter fingers and makes bad fouls.
Payton has been at the top of my wishlist for a while. If you can't get kidd then GP is the way to go. Plus i think francis will excell at the 2 spot (less playmaking and more scoring)
I didnt say to get Madsen instead of the other big names Im saying just as a trash man. Come on use some common sense here people. It's good to have people like that on your team to come in and scrap and hussle. It enthuses other guys. They are called lil husslers (big in this case). You hate them when they play for other teams but love them on your own. When i was playing college football we had a guy like that on our D-Line...he wasnt great but he made some plays and the whole team and the whole stadium rocked when he came in the game just like the stadium rocked in LA for Madsen and in NY for Dudley and in SA for Jack Haley...remember. Im not saying Madesn is better than KT or that he is who we should go after and forget everyone else...but he is a JVG kind of player. Thats what Im saying.
What teams are truley in the running for Brand and Oneal? Oneal will get a max deal because he has size to go with his talent. But how much does Brand demand? I truley do not think the clips will match any high dollar amount. They could prob. be intised into not matching also(EG). Yea adding Brand would put us over but we could then trade Rice, Taylor or Cato for a few lesser role playing players to fill out the roster. Brand may not demand the max for his lack of size and winning. He may be one of those players that can put up numbers on bad teams. If I were the rox I would offer him the max even if it is overpaying. Adding a player like Brand would be better than Oneal. Brand will try to do whatevr it takes, while Oneal wants to be a star. Brand Francis and Yao will be the conerstones to the new rox. It wouldn't take much to build around them. Just a few roster moves would put us in serious contention. Rice already gets paid max type money and will be gone next year so take the tax hit for this one year, selling out the new arena and winning is worth it.
