The scouting report for Harden and Melo are pretty much the same except they play different positions.

Neither plays D or tries. Both likes the ball to stick to them. They dominate the shot clock often. Volume shooter both but many of Harden's shots count as FTs because of his ability to get foul calls with flopping and initiating contact but getting the call, Harden led the league in total number of TO last season and is among the leaders. Slightly mitigated because he missed 3 games in a very short season so far.

I love how excelling at getting the most efficient shot in basketball is construed as a bad thing...

Harden has a lifetime TS% of .603, Melo of .545. Both are volume shooters; one is significantly more efficient.

No everyone don't think Harden is a young Melo. That is only your position. I haven't seen anybody agree with you yet and I most definitely haven't heard anybody in the media say that nonsense.

Harden takes it to the hole a lot more and play makes a lot more than Melo. No one would accuse Melo of trying to play PG. Melo is more of a post-up player as well. I'm from NY and I like Harden. I don't like Melo. I'd like Harden to improve, but Melo is more of a ball hog and there is a big differences in their games.

Dude you have selective memory or just remember basketball how you want it to be... Kobe was still in his PRIME when Shaq and Kobe left and with no other star players he took that team to the lottery (and they drafted Bynum). Harden had no other star players last year and carried a team with limited starting experience and a clueless coach to the playoffs. Kobe even had Rudy T... So all this superman ish you bumping about Kobe is BS because without help he's never done ish... Harden did more with less and he's still a couple of years from being in his prime.

So like I previously stated _ Kobe's defense wasn't as good as you're making it out to be...

It's all good to hate on Harden _ but no need for you to make stuff up in the process...

Howard is no superstar player. I'm not even sure he's a franchise player. He's only the best center in the game by default.

Age and mentality is a huge factor that benefits Harden. Melo is mostly a spot up shooter, you're not going to get any kind of "superstar" calls especially if you're not attacking/driving. Harden has learned to play the game of "selling" calls and as long as the league rewards players for doing that, our players should do it. Melo, unfortunately, has failed to realize that. Which is ironic because he should be learning how to sell calls from his buddies Lebron and Chris Paul.

Melo is at the end of his potential, he's been the same player for years. Harden is just getting started and is already arguably the best SG in the league. He's also the better ball-dominate player and creator. More importantly, you can build with Harden as your #1 option, you can't do that with Melo. At best, Melo is a #3 option for spotting up on the perimeter as most volume shooters are.

Does Melo average the most assist on his team? James Harden just happens to do so...

For one thing: Melo is a star. Last season was almost MVP worthy.

And: Melo and Harden are both elite scorers that don`t play defense - so that makes the assumption that they are a lot alike pretty easy. But I still would disagree. Harden is one of the most efficient scorers in basketball and he is more than comfortable with sharing the spot light. Carmelo is averaging 2.8 assists a game - Harden is averaging 5.4, so basically double the assist number. Harden is far from a black hole. He hasn`t been playing well because his foot his hurting him and he haven`t figured out how he could still be effective. But when he is on, he likes to pass the ball.

So the scouting report is very different. One is a player that likes to force shots and makes a lot of them, the other is a ball handler who likes to drive and then either pass, shoot or gets fouled.

This is harsh on Howard. However, if this is the case, it is more applicable to Haren who is rated the best SG in the game by further default. At least Howard has Gasol, Hibbert, Noah etc. Haren has an old Wade and a washed up Kobe as his main challenges.
