I was listening to the radio feed last night and for previous other games this season, and all I hear is Craig Ackerman. Did Jim Foley ultimately not get replaced? Rockets radio is not the same. Ackerman is pretty good though.
Well Wex used to do a Great job but since he left all they got is some guy in the studio who tries to make stupid rhymes out of all the highlight plays. please move the Rockets to 790!!!
I listened to Gene and Jim for over twenty years and I really miss them. Ackerman is definitely a homer (ok in my book) but he is a little slow for a radio broadcaster. Most of the time he starts describing what happened before telling us what actually happened. If you listen to him you know what I mean. To answer your question though they currently don't have an analyst.
Ackerman's good but he can be overkill sometimes...I know lately on my way home I hear him shouting on top of his lungs on any Rocket basket, only to get to my tv and find out we're still down by 20 ...
Ackerman does his best, but sometimes his yelling and screaming on mundane plays get a little irritating. And Joel Blank seriously needs to STFU with the cheesy one-liners during the highlights. Gene and Jim were truly special.
Wex only did home games and there is a guy doing home games with Ackerman and he's not good. its obvious he's on clutchfans.net. last night he says something he thought was informative, that j will and randy moss played high school ball together. I guess some younger fans may not know that but I'm pretty sure its common knowledge of sports fans now
great pair. pretty much the best thing i hear on the radio. they air from 6AM to 10AM, so you'd be hard pressed to hear them broadcasting during a rockets game these days.
Gene and Jim were the best. Nothing else even close to it in Houston radio. Great memories listening to Jim during those championship years.
Ackerman's no Gene Peterson, but who is? He's decent, however, I wish he would give the game and shot clock more as you get to the end of the quarters. I remember one time late in a tight 4th quarter he didn't give the game time for over 5 minutes.
