Do the Lakers really think they`re getting Yao?

That`s exactly the things being said, so I`m hoping Les would take care of getting him signed on for 6 more at MAX.

of the many things said about Les, him being a stupid businessman has never been one of them...

and only a stupid businessman would allow a valued asset like Yao to get away.

Contrary to what LA fans think...Yao has said time and time again that he HATES the spotlight....he wishes the press would leave him alone and let him play ball...and he has turned down lots of endorsement deals and requests to use him in commercials/ads..

The only possible factor they like to use to claim Yao might be tempted is the size of the asian population in SoCal....and from what I know of his personality...it doesnt seem to me that he would value that over loyalty and his current comfort level in Houston.
Besides...it isnt like we have no asian population here..we have just enough so that if he feels the need to commune with others of his background...they are here...but not too many so that he might get mobbed everywhere he goes(in Houston)

As far as I am concerned...I predeict a MAX extension to be inked as soon as the Rockets brass and Yao can get together to hash it out.

The Rockets WILL offer it...and Im pretty sure Yao WILL accept it.

one thing i learned bout foreign players.. is that they are loyal to the team they start with, and most of them will stick wit em till the end.. unless they suck and the team trades them haha.. like nachbar AHEM..

The biggest reason why I hate the Lakers (the whole organization and their fans) is their arrogant sense of entitlement. They think they can get whatever they want simply because they are the LA Lakers.

"Teams, just develop your stars. We'll come and get them when they are ripe." In their mind, every team and everything in the NBA exists FOR the Lakers. They are entitle to get any player, any coach, any championship in any year.

Folks, the Lakers are THE Evil Empire of sports. And they deserve Kobe Bryant. Hahaha...

Just pay some mexicans to stay out of the sun for a few months, once they lighten up they'll look like Asians. Yao can't tell anyway, he's so tall he only sees the top of their heads.

Laker fans aren't interested in Yao. View him as soft. They're praying for Amare and most know it's a long long long shot.

IIm not saying it is likely, but I can imagine Amare moving. Steve Nash relatively is old and the Suns seem fragile. Moreover, (unlike Yao of course) Amare is nowhere near as big a star as he should be based on his basketball impact. He might decide that moving to tinseltown is a way to address that.

But its still unlikely he would want to make the (possibly) short term financial sacrifices involved.

Yeah, they'll bash anyone that's not on their team, but the second that they believe they can get that person, they gush over 'em.

I trust Yao , he is good guy and is loyal to Houston Rocket if the management team can satisfy his basic need ... He is different from other players in the league....

gotta be honest, i could care less where Amare goes because he is overrated in my book. Yeah, he's developed a nice little 15 foot jump shot, and he'll over power you but without a quality point guard and all those 3 point shooters, i just dont think he is that great. If we had JJ and QRich I'm sure Yao would be going to the line 20 times or so. And maybe I'm being a homer here but it seems like Yao usually has his way with Amare when they play each other. Anyway, hurry up and get him signed on.

BINGO! The "sense of entitlement" that drips from the Lakers is appauling! And it really irritates me. They are not god's gif to basketball. And I look forward to them losing out on all the star players and being forced to take on some questionable and older players when they get their cap room.

But they're not even the worst - which is amazing in itself. The Knicks organization and fans possess an even more extreme sense of entitlement. With less reason, since they've been a mediocre organization for a long, long time.

Imagine how terrible they'd be if NY actually started winning again...

I actually don't mind the Lakers. If there is any team that I have hatred towards, it would be the Spurs. That is the one team I hate with a passion. Ever since DRob was awarded the MVP in 95, I just felt that they were the league's favorite Texas team. At times no matter how well the Rockets played the media had to have a bunch of negative opinions towards us and they would feel akward if they didn't. When I see coverage of the Spurs it seems like they are always the good guy team that they feel deserve to win. The perfect team that can do no wrong. Now that they have 2 1/2 rings they have 1 more championship than us. ARGH! It also kills me that a couple of our role players (horry and ellie) became keys to their success. Anyways back to L.A. getting Yao.... they are just dreaming. Yao's a smart fella. I am sure he see's how that organization's decisions haven't been that great since Jerry West retired and then went to Memphis. Yao has talked about loyalty and I am sure he would want to play for an organization that feels the same way. Losing Shaq so they could build around Kobe doesn't show much loyalty in my opinion. I think big men are now seeing if you are good we'll take you. When you start to slow down we'll trade you to build around the cocky flashy showboat. If Amare is smart he won't go there too.
