I think if they're going to win anything, Gasol is going to have avoid getting rattled by physical defense. Bynum will have to develop quick. Odom will have to play consistent. Most important though is Gasol is going to have adjust to physical playoff defense. He played worse as each playoff series went on.
Got me. I meant before last season when he was still in Memphis and never even won a single playoff game. Do they in the playoffs when the screws tighten on Gasol, Bynum and Kobe? He and Gasol are a problem in that they give good production most of the time but when a guy gives you 18/8 for most of the season and then practically disappears in playoffs games it's almost as bad as them being injured. I think his impact on the court is overrated. Sure, he doesn't hurt the team with poor decisions but he doesn't do much of anything positive either. Defensively, he is still getting credit for things he hasn't been able to do in a few years. 34 year old PGs are a liability in the West. We'll see if the rest of the talent can continue to hide his inability to make opposing PG acknowledge him. I would love to have the guy. My point is that we don't know anything about him beyond what he can do for half a season. I think he will continue to grow as a player but until he does it you can't count on it happening. Thanks. I'm nitpicking but I do think all of the reasons I listed could become realities. Some of them certainly will but with the talent on that roster it might not matter.
Give him a team like the Thunder or the Bobcats and let's see him win 9 championships. I don't deny he's a good coach, but still way overrated. Any halfway decent coach with two of the greatest players ever, in their prime, of all time could have done the same.
their major weakness is fisher. all the games i watched of lakers, there had to be at least 5 times fisher took an ill advised shot without even passing the ball. i mean kobe i understand, but fisher? tho on the other hand he usually hit his open threes
Lakers pulling away in the 4th, up by 20. Lakers have a habit of busting it open in the 4th. They have great ball movement and are patient, Kobe doesn't try to play Kobe ball, picks his spots, with multi-skilled talented players at several positions means they will wear down most of the typical average NBA teams, which the Nets are. Nets have no go to guy when the role players aren't hitting their shots, Carter is not a go to guy.
Question: Have you found one single MMS link to an NBA game this season? If so, where? MMS links are dead and gone.
i've watched a lot of laker games since they are on all the time here in So Cal. I never thought much of Gasol and thought he was a bit overated when he was in Memphis.. but Gasol is not soft and actually plays very physical. I would say if he cant handle physical defense then our guys in Scola and Landry are screwed since Gasol plays a lot more agressive and physical than Scolandry.. just look at the game against us where he had like 15 boards...
Their biggest weakness would be youth and inexperience As talented as Farmar is, he's lazy on defense and can be very complacent...same with Bynum, Radmanovic, Odom leads the way in this departments, Ariza and Luke Walton All these young guys have to be babysit by Kobe because they lose their focus quite often and don't play up to their potential cuz they tend to underestimate their opponents or just don't show up to play in games.
Also it doesn't help that coach Phil Jackson is quite laid back and wants the players to figure things out themselves his coaching style is the exact opposite of Larry Brown
So far this season, I've been really impressed with Bynum's defense. At this rate he should get some serious consideration for All-NBA Defense. With Bynum now in their line-up their defense has improved so much since last year. To the point that, defense is no longer a weakness.
Yet another Lakers blowout. Raptors 99 Lakers 112 Yet another game with Kobe kicking his feet back in the 4th quarter. The game wasn't nearly as close as the final score. It seems like most games they have such a big lead down the stretch that all they do is try to make highlight reel plays for the last 6 minutes. They'd have several less TOs per game if it wasn't for all the alley-oops and behind the back passes at the end of blowouts. I still don't see any major weaknesses other than the possibility that the regular season will be so easy for them that they just coast into the playoffs without enough real tests along the way.
PJ won't allow that to happen. As coach, he has to figure out who his top 8 are because the rotation will tighten late in the season and playoffs. He will "create" challenges. No coach (that I've ever seen) loves to play more mind games. The Lakers also have to improve their half-court offense, which will be a season-long affair. It's fun time now but PJ will stir something up if the players get "happy feet". But the bottom line is the rest of the Western Conference is playing for the 2nd seed. Isn't it sick that the next closest teams in the West have 6 losses already while the Lakers have only 1? Also consider none of the other teams look like they are ready to peel off a long winning streak. It wouldn't surprise me if the Lakers are 10 games up on #2 at mid-season.
Kings putting a smackdown on the Lakers at Arco. I hear more boos when the Kings do well and more cheers when the Lakers score.
Honestly, I was so wrapped up in the Blazers/Magic game I completely forgot about this one. Oh well. Good for Theus and the Kings. Looks like he'll keep his job a while longer.
Well right now it is their defense. They are struggling to make stops. Btw, wow what a game winner by Turkoglu to Beat Portland. Phenomenal shot and good news for Rockets
