FYI: According to NBA.com TT was net -0.9 per 100 pos in 101 minutes during the playoffs. TT is supposed to be dominant not just blah. TT will never work because Asik isn't good enough offensively.
Asik can dunk whens there's nobody there to context. I just don't get how a guy so big and strong with all the tools can't do it on a consistent basis? Hand size and no vertical leap? His core is strong and he can get rebounds in traffic easy. I just don't get it with him.
But coordinated enough to have the timing and positioning to rebound the ball better than just about everybody else in the league not named Dwight Howard?
He has value. But anyone can be traded under the right circumstances and Morey must explore whether such circumstances exist this summer. I wouldn't trade him for no good reason but if we can get a "star that shakes loose" via trade, sign and trade or FA signing, and Asik needs to go to make the cap numbers work, then it would make sense to trade him. But if no such opportunities exists, I wonder of the team would try to start the Twin Towers again.
Who ever the Rox get for Asike better get the foul calls and make free throws at the line. How often does Love get to the free throw line?
Do you mean all three of the Suns first rounders? Even that still probably isn't great for Minnesota. Plus Hamilton cannot be traded. Let's keep this stuff at least borderline realistic, OK?
Rebounding doesn't take a lot of coordination. Strength, technique, yes. But you don't need to be particularly coordinated. You don't need to use fine motor skills. I mean, Asik is somebody who has trouble catching a pass while he's moving. It's obvious he doesn't have good coordination.
this. Omer is awesome but, the rockets could use the money else where. They could also bring in a cheaper option at back up center
It's not so much people here don't want him, it's the fact that we all know he is gone after this season. If you can find a way to flip him for a good player who wants to be here, you're better off doing that than losing him for nothing.
Not just that, but the Rockets aren't taking advantage of his value with him sitting on the bench for the majority of the game. He's taking up cap space that can be used to sign a starter. You'd get more use and value from the money spent on Asik's contract from a starter than you are getting from Asik playing 10-15 minutes per game.
We have to trade him or he will walk. But that wouldn't be bad either considering the cap space and free agent class. He won't sign past next year. Especially for a pay cut. We can't afford him as good as he is.
Love Asik's defensive play and rebounding but having him come off the bench for limited minutes is simply NOT cost-effective and therefore not compatible with Moreyball. I've always thought he was a smart defender but it's kind of fitting his last moment with the Rockets will be infamously fouling out from the offensive foul on Aldridge that wiped off Lin's probably game-icing bank-shot three.
Rockets were not a good defensive team this year. GSW, on the other hand, were an elite defensive team, with Bogut and Lee (and Jermaine - did the Rockets even try to get this guy?). Apparently having two supposedly elite rim protectors doesn't necessarily translate to a good defensive team, contrary to what Morey would have you believe.
Lol Asik is the Last one I would blame, sure it was a dumb foul, but this one was on Parsons,Jones and Harden who cannot guard **** and left Lillard wide Open.
