You could of easily prevented creating a whole new thread by simply stating your opinion (which is a great one) in a thread that already exists down the lines. People keep creating new threads all day and clutter up the 1st page where there are numerous threadworthy threads that I enjoy reading. Hope that clears up why I said that
So you're saying Dwight is going to sign for the MLE to play for the Nets? Because that's all they can offer.
Douglas probably seen an opportunity to start again after getting traded here, and now that Lin's here, hes probably like ''not this crap again"
Do you really think Toney Douglas can back up Lin. He barely played on a Knicks' roster with Davis, and Bibby - two turtles on the brink of retirement. And Lin is not going to be the Rockets' savior he's a good NBA player but he's not elite. Rockets gave him the contract more for his marketing appeal.
The Nets will undoubtedly dump Brook Lopez and his crazy contract at the Trade Deadline. I would expect them to find a buyer for Kris Humphries too. Something inside me tells me Dwight Howard WILL be a Net next offseason via Free Agency. Deron Williams didn't re-up with Brooklyn for no reason. He knows Dwight's coming.
It is highly unlikely they could find a taker willing to give enough expiring contracts equal to Brook Lopez deal, and obviously the Nets don't think it's crazy or they could have just let Lopez go if they just wanted to clear the salary. The only realistic chance for the Nets is if Dwight is still with the Magic by the trade deadline, and that presumes the Magic would want to end up with Lopez and Humphries which would make them a worse version of the Nets pre-Deron Williams. Any draft picks that a Nets team that added Dwight could offer would be late, late first rounders, and that isn't exactly an appealing rebuilding plan. If it was the Magic would have done the deal much earlier. And of course if that happens it means the Rockets never had Dwight in the first place. But as far as the Nets some how managing to free up cap space to sign a max level player by next summer, the chances are much lower than the chances that Dwight would resign with the Rockets if they traded for him.
They could dump BOTH Lopez and Humphries for expiring contracts (virtually impossible) and the Nets still wouldn't be able to come close to offering Dwight a max deal. That's how bad the Brooklyn situation is. Give it up. Deron re-upped because his only alternative was walking to an aging Dallas team for a $25 million paycut, and Brooklyn gave him competent teammates in Johnson and a healthy Lopez. There is no way on earth that Dwight will be signing with Brooklyn in free agency.
