You don’t trade Harden unless you are pulling a Presti OKC move and dropping his arse on a loser team for multiple top 7 picks, a solid vet, and salary dump. And if you are doing this then you burn the whole thing to the ground and give Silas an opportunity to build something from the ground up.

If harden doesn't ask for a trade, obviously you keep him and do the best you can to retool the roster around him. Furthermore you will look to extend his contract guaranteeing he ends his career as a rocket. But if harden publicly asks for a trade, the rockets will be in a tough position. You have to weigh the possibilily of losing a superstar for nothing in two years. As well as what could be a very dysfunctional team environment during that time.

It's ridiculous. Trading James Harden now would be like trading Olajuwon before the '93 season, which from what I recall was seriously considered. A good example given by the OP. Hakeem was 30 and would be 31 in about 4 months. Harden is 31 and has been 31 for under 3 months. He's about 6 months older than Hakeem was then. Had we dealt Olajuwon we would still be searching for our 1st championship, in my humble opinion. We should be building around a top 3 player under contract, not trading him away. So we have shitty ownership. So what? If he moves Harden he will just confirm what we already know.
A lot of people think it is only a matter of when and not if Harden will be traded. A lot of them think it could be before the draft even. I cannot even blame him for wanting to be dealt. I wouldn’t want to play for Tilman either.
