If we didn’t have Sengun I’d be open to trying the Simmons as Draymond idea but Id rather just develop Sengun. Wood would be the ideal front court partner to try with Simmons like that but he’s probably the piece we’d need to trade also. Further, going three straight playoff games without taking a shot in the fourth quarter for a guy on a max deal has almost nothing to do with being used out of position. Pass.
The level of criticism has gotten to that point. When you have people seriously suggesting that rookies and washed up over paid players like Wall are even in Simmons league he has become underrated.
If we were to play him at the 5, it will be a mismatch to his advantage because he would out run his opponent. He would get opportunities to facilitate being a point center(here and there). He would be a hybrid version of a center in the league with us. Most of all the elite defense that he will bring that we need and not to mention the elite rebounding.
You have to spend that money somewhere - Simmons could rehab his image for a year and then become an asset in future years. I wouldnt necessarily look at it in the long term unless the fit is seamless, but he slots in more than Wall does in this lineup. Simmons is an all NBA defender, plus a good playmaking big - he adds what the team needs without needing the ball as a primary scorer.
Simmons don't want to play center. He wants to play point forward. He told Bret Brown so. Two NBA coaches can't get him to shoot, what makes folks think he'd listen and play center and bang with opposing centers of the league, box out and grab boards. His rebound number is meh. Despite known more as an on ball defender, has anyone actually looked at his drop coverage defense. No to Simmons.
He ran into the paint which was wide open and then passed it. The problem with Simmons is not that he just can't shoot. It's that he doesn't seem to want to shoot. He needs help. I feel bad for him because the talent is there. These other NBA athletes are all saying he needs to just work on his shot or change positions. I think it is alot deeper than that and the guy needs to be with some basketball therapist.
anything is possible he may end up being the best player in nba but i d rather let some loser franchise take that bet.... hes welcome to come here in a few years on a vet min deal to see if we can make use of his talents
You're thinking Simmons current value is higher than Wall? Doubtful. Plus, if true, Rockets are totally screwed, given the associated price tag Wall carries. [/QUOTE]
Sixers Fans were Mad at Ben Rockets Fans were mad at Dwight Dwight is actually a better free throw shooter when we got him than Ben
The dude is a long, defensive, playmaking wing type player with no offensive game. Certainly not worth the money he's getting.
of course Ben Simmons has higher trade value than John Wall, that’s not even a question or up for debate
