Interesting seeing the Rockets having the 2nd best odds to land Ben Simmons according to Bet MGM. TWolves #1. According to some other sites, I see Blazers having best odds and TWolves/Rockets tied for 2nd best odds. Vegas knows. I've seen mixed reactions from fans, but I'd definitely get Simmons if the price is low. Morey isn't the type of GM to cave, but this situation is getting uglier by the day. All these "we would like Simmons to report" narratives are pure bs and an attempt to salvage some trade value. Funny how the Sixers denied Simmons being available in a Harden trade, when guess what? He was available. There's so much tension there, it will be fascinating to see how everything turns out. If I'm Stone, I'd actually offer Wall and 2 picks. Milwaukee 2023 and probably a Brooklyn pick. House or Tate would be a sweetener too and would create an opening at SF for Simmons to start, but this would indicate 76ers sending more salary out such as Thybulle or Maxey. Certainly don't want a logjam. After typing this, it feels like a Stone fleece attempt

I think Minny and Hou are favored because of the personal connections between Morey and Stone and Rosas… The bet is the rest of the league has had it with Morey.

Yeah, Kings have 3rd best odds and also have a former Rockets exec (McNair)

We shouldn’t go for him .

another poster talked about not taking back salary past 22-23 or something like that . The thinking being , we can use the RFA status of Tate , wood , kpj to sign good young FA AND keep those guys .

That’s all beyond me , but Simmons has 4 years left right ?

I think if we have him it ends up like DET with josh smith lol . Maybe we get a great scenario of that . Wood can actually shoot . Sengun pans out on offense. Simmons brings D and passing . Green and kpj grow and look like a top 5 backcourt . Then you have Superman Tate off the bench with Garuba .

if everything goes well quickly Simmons turns your 8th seed into a 4th . That’s the best case upside imo . Not worth it if we need to give up picks . (Maybe 1)

the interesting thing is Simmons alone doesn’t do enough to match Walls salary . Will likely need to take a 3rd team or take back more filler from Phi

Bro he makes the max and will have a trade kicker. At that amount you shouldnt be looking at a specialized tool that only 100 people in the country know how to use he should be a freaking pop me in microwave for 2 mins I give you a feast kinda deal. Its like paying 1000 usd for a slab of meat coated in the feces of the emur cat which will taste exactly like Kobe beef if you marinate it in the Shitaka family secret sauce for 12 hrs and then use some basting technique taught by Gordon Ramsey in his 2500 usd master class like bro why not just pay for legit Kobe beef? Walls deal expires in a couple years Green and co arent even 20 yet but you already got fire in your pants and want to do anything to sniff playoffs? Cmon man.

Get the young guys used to winning? Making the playoffs only to get shat on in the first round isnt winning its called spinning the wheels of mediocrity. It doesnt really do anything for young players just ask Sabonis and the Pacers. How much winning has Sabonis done now vs his time during with loser OKC would you know? I'm sure Sabonis is a much better player now than SGA cuz SGA has developed all these bad habits from losing right?

This is common knowledge in the NBa you either want to be really good or really bad you dont wanna be in between. If the Rox were 5 yrs in rebuilding then you can make a convincing argument but this is literally year 1 of rebuild what kind of foundation you have to build a contender with just 1 year of asset collection? This is like saving for 1 year and then expecting you already a millionaire like bruh.

Nice and easy deal. 76ers get a young guard who can score in Sexton (24.1pts. 4.4asts, 3.1rebs) and a veteran big who can help. Cavs & Simmons get a fresh start plus Simmons has some years left on his deal to figure his game out with minimal pressure.

    Cavs Get:

    Ben Simmons

    76ers get:

    Kevin Love
    Collin Sexton

I was all ready to retool and now gotta think about losing Wall and bringing on Simmons, ugh.

I'm prepared to be positive frustrated watch a bunch of newbies learn and grow a core, but I really don't feel like us becoming the Simmons project. I have no interest in the guy, and while I am ready to give up Wall, I just don't know how Simmons works on a team level. Grr, if we get him at a low enough price I guess, but dammit.

Good thing Simmons is tops at 3ball assists.

It is insane to me that the Timberwolves want him. It would be the same thing as in Philadelphia except Townes isn't as good as Embiid.

Interesting stat. I wonder if that’s because of his court vision or because he’s refused to actually develop a respectable 3 point shot after 4 years in the league.

I've been silent about this for a while but I like getting Simmons for the right price. If it means getting rid of Wall then I'm all for it. His assists would elevate our young players especially Wood and in turn elevate their trade value as well. He doesn't need to score and just bring that court vision and defensive knack he is known for and I'm good. If he does somehow evolve into a scorer miraculously then that is just a bonus.

I just don't understand why anyone that wants to bring Simmons here has not actually visualized how Simmons would play that magical 3/4 position. Sure defensively there is little transition but Simmons is a PG...a PG. Defense is only half the game. He already gets blasted for his inactivity on offense. Now you are going to take the ball out of his hands. When he is Ariza hanging out on that line, which he basically is now when he is off the ball, who is going to buy his pump fakes and slashes to the basket because that and transition dunks are basically his offense along with cleaning up the trash? Simmons did not make a 3 point shot until a YEAR AGO and has shot fewer than 40 in his entire career. You are asking a max guy who cannot shoot and mostly passes the ball to be a 3 point specialist. Its so absurd its not even funny. Its clinically insane.

Having two max slots for front court players to give us a window into the future and keeping our assets is FAR FAR BETTER than Simmons. Simmons is a declining asset that cannot shoot.

Too bad Simmons clogs the line up for the Cavs, playing him and Mobley together would be great defensively but would wreck their own offense just as bad.

Simmons would play exactly like Rockets envision using Garuba.

Except Simmons is better finisher, ball handler, passer and perimeter defender.

Garuba is little better post defender and rebounder.

Garuba is not expected to be a 3ball specialist.

    By anyone.

Garuba is also not afraid to shoot an open 3 even if he isn't good at them. He has that on Simmons, lol
