Rafer is a very good backup point. As long as we have a solid vet backing up James (which we'd have to get), I've got no problem at all trading Alston, together with some of our excess players (we've got too many!), if they were wanted in a deal, for one player of value. Golden State doesn't need a backup point, do they?? Barnes is looking for a home. Maybe a 3-way?

Please trade Rafer! James starts and is backed up by Brooks. O.K., I wouldn't mind Rafer coming of the bench for VSpan minutes. If Francis comes, which is very, very unlikely, Reefer is gone.

Rafer would miss Russia with a rocket launcher if he was in downtown Moscow.

Teams exploited this dude's pathetic FG % to attack the Rockets defensively. Adelman's system, which creates several opportunities for guards, cannot afford offensive liabilities like Rafer because he is a poor shooter and he is afraid to cut/slash and take hits while going to the basket.

In all fairness, Rafer could be a good backup for limited minutes. Just not in Adelman's system which requires excellence in areas at which well...he just plain sucks. Until Rockets find someone else at guard (other than MJ) who can shoot well and is fearless going to the basket, Adelman will play him just to move the ball along. Expect Adelman to get frustrated after countless blown layups and bench him unlike Gundy who would keep making excuses for his pet.

    PET OWNERS AND PETS BEGONE!

yeah, francis' awesome 40.8 fg % along with his uncanny pure point guard skills is a definite upgrade.

As much as I hate Rafer, We gotta keep him for a few months.
    2 Reasons:

Trade Asset for desperate/injured teams. Alston can step up wherever he goes and become a starter mid-season.

If this SF3/MJ pg thing doesn't work, you still got back up.

Rafer has to be traded now. The rockets 2 current pgs remind me a lot of the old kings. Bobby Jackson and Mike Bibby were both scoring pgs, and that fit Adelman's system well. I think mike James and Steve Francis can be similar

He is the only PG we can pass right now. Francis and James are both notorious ball-hog, and Brooks is unproven.

    DO NOT TRADE RAFER!!!!
