Dude, obviously you dont keep up with the Mavs that well. Listen to the interview after the game on Tuesday 3/13 from Jason Terry when he talks about how the front office and ownership made clear the direction they were going and how he's auditioning for other teams next year when he plays this year.

You think the Rockets are any different?... Get your story straight. At the Sloan Conference this last week, Cuban himself said that before he was able to just overpay for deals that would help the team win, but now the new CBA eliminates the opportunity to operate like that, and you have to manage your salary cap appropriately rather than just overspend to make impact deals. The podcast is still up on the BS report page on ESPN.com. Listen to it if you think Cuban is SOOOO much different than Morey in his player, roster management philosophy.

Yes, Cuban was able to go over the lux tax in the past to get player aquisitions but even Cuban himself admits that those days are over, and follow the exact same player aquisitions philosophy that Morey and the Rockets do now.

Those days aren't over and never will be until there is a hard cap and Mark Cuban knows this to be true as well as anyone.

Certain teams are already in a position to decide to voluntarily pay through the nose on the luxury tax from time to time when it gives them a decided advantage over the competition.

Nobody cares about paying $100M in luxury tax if it means having an extra superstar that other teams can't have and can't afford, as long as their franchise is already making 4 times that amount of money in a season anyway.

What it boils down to is that certain teams are going to have the flexibility to decide to somewhat less profitable from time to time in order to guarantee their success.

The only thing to prevent it is a hard cap. Not a luxury tax.

why everybody forgets that Cuban didnt want to pay Nash a long-term contract, just because he was 30 years old?? and the next two years he was the MVP, and right now at 38, he is still playing good basketball.

It would be funny if bosh and LeBrons lockers didn't say NBA champions and only Wades did!
