Patterson has to be the softest strong man ever. How can a player that is built like a ben wallace-lite get bullied and outrebounded by lesser physiques?
Yeah, this is what I'm talking about... LA could dress and play in a barn, but ... it's LA. They have the entire city, entertainment, etc. going for them.
Every thing else about equal to these men its all about winning games. And championships. They would not be playing at this level if it wasn't. A couple of decent playoff runs and they will come. Oh, and the money counts too. Almost forgot that one. ;p
I agree, it probably helps having material items to offer players. Planes are pretty important though. You don't want to be flying around in a little piece of junk plane that constantly has turbulence and decreases and increases in elevation. That crap is kind of scary and I'm sure a few players have that problem. I'm not saying it's necessary to have a double deck, jumbo jet but a bigger plane makes a difference in comfort. I guess you're right when you say "millionaires want to be treated like millionaires." Although I think the locker room the Heat have is a little over the top. I don't see anything wrong with a television in the locker room as long as it has game footage so maybe the players and coaches can study the opposing squad's game. Found a video of the the inside of the Dallas Maverick's plane.
You are forgetting about shoe/merchandise deals which are regional. Being in LA, NY or Chicago can add many more millions to an NBA star's income. Without China still on board, Houston is no longer as lucrative. As far as spending, sure, what Cuban does helps. But having Dirk helps much more and that's Dallas' big attraction. A good chance of winning.
Dang I would expect better, I mean rappers have g6. I would think everyone would have their own row. I'm not huge 5 11 160 but if I got issues in Econ and business those guys must be suffocating. Going thru security and getting to your hotel late does seem like it could effect away games more than I thought.
is it just me, or does dirk sound like the biggest rtard everytime he opens his mouth? sorry if he truly has some form of mental handicap. otherwise, htown is not desirable spot for outsiders looking in. i've lived outside of houston for quite some time now, and i've grown to accept that reality. les needs to step up his game if he wants to land some of these divas.
Who give a S&$% about the Rockets carpeting and paint job on their plane?? Seriously.... You people that b**** about Houston obviously have never lived anywhere else. Houston is great. Id love to move back if I could. Im down there most weekends actually for something or another, and love going to Rockets games more than Mavs, Spurs, or NO games. Which are the cities I am in the majority of the time for work that I get to check out games. Either you should move, root for another team, or just Shup up. That includes you too DD, your nonsense is getting more and more ridiculous. Go join Bill Ingram in Dallas and join his b****fest where you rag on Daryl Morey all day and claim the beer guy at the Mavs game as your "source" on how nobody apparently likes Morey. Go away.
Moreys dealings with the players are whats unattractive. I like the Heats setup. However comparing the Mavs and Rockets locker rooms looks like they are almost similar in quality. No difference. It might make a good first impression on first class and what isnt for players if they are looking for that sort of stuff. You or others in the organization may not think so but psychologically speaking of course first impressions are often deciding factors when choosing between two things that come close to each other. So yes maybe they should look into renovations for a upper hand. It never hurts to have any advantage. Every little thing adds up.
You guys just dont get it. Every team makes trades. The Lakers just drop the bomb on a franchise legend. Do you think that Lakers fans are saying that nobody wants to come to LA anymore because Mitch K. is a meany pants???? What... let me guess... they dont offer contract extensions.... ok, well if your on your rookie scale deal and you go into restricted free agency thats should be a good thing if your a good player. You and your agent should be seeking out the best contracts available to maximize your deal. Whats so wrong with that picture. You get market rate. Thats how it should be. If a team doesn't pick up your option it should allow you to actually make more money unless you are underperforming on your rookie contract. Who wants a player that is underperforming on their rookie deal??? If you suck like Thabeet, Flynn, or Williams then you shouldnt be on the team anyways. Adios. Good luck in Europe. Its a business. Get over it. You guys cry more than the players do.
Its not that he trades them or tries to. Its the how. He cant even do that right. He cant trade players away either. So its a double edged sword.
He measured out at 6'8 3/4" without shoes and 6'9 3/4" with shoes and he has quick feet. A very good find for the Rockets, and probably ruins any chance for Marcus Morris in the future in Houston. DD
Morey "low balling" players doesn't really matter to superstars since they are going to get max contracts anyway. Likewise superstars aren't going to be traded as "assets" unless they are no longer capable of playing like superstars. Sure a nicer plane or fancier locker room can't hurt, but the main thing a super star forcing his way off a team wants is to be put on a team where he will immediately feel like he is able to one of the favorites to win a championship. That usually means having a superstar or at least high level all star on your team already. When we had Yao, Tmac was more than happy to come here. When we had Dream, it was no problem getting Drexler, Barkley, Francis and Pippen. Having the star on your team that other stars want to play with is much more important than any other factor including who your GM is.
Ok.... who couldn't he trade other than the beloved second coming of Lebron according to Clutchfans (TWill)??? Pretty sure even Thabeet was able to be traded... Thabeet...come on. And how did he trade him any less sensative than Mitch K. traded Fisher, Larry Riley traded Monta Ellis, or John Hammond traded Andrew Bogut??? Whats he supposed to do to be sensative enough about it??? send flowers?
I have no problem with his method of wanting to trade. Like I said. Its that he is not a good GM that is respected by his players who do things like sulk in Tmac, Twill, Scola, Kmart whenever he tries to trade them. He also hardly does anything of real substance after the whole drama is over with in most of those cases. AGAIN it is not that he treats them like assets or makes trades. Its that he is not good at his job so far.
