I've been thinking, as fans, we don't mind tanking because we are with the Rockets for a long time to come. Morey on the other hand, is not a Rockets fan. Morey is a Morey fan. He has his career to worry about. That being said, is it possible that he actually does want to win, even if it means a late lotto or first round exit in the playoffs? How about Les? For him its a business. I'm sure with Yao Ming he was making more money than the Rockets made during the Hakeem era. The Clippers make more money than a lot of franchises and they lose all the time. Winning doesn't always equate to $. Any analysis of this would be much appreciated.

My analysis stands at this. Anyone starting threads of this nature needs to get banned. Stop polluting the GARM with this crap.

What do you mean Morey is a Morey fan?

Morey's idea of getting better may conflict with Les, but in the end Morey HAS to follow Les' orders.

His career IS based on moves that Les approves of.

What's with the conspiracy theories lately with Morey.

If your interest is tanking and watching horrible basketball for the possibility of a #1 pick, then I guess Les and Morey's interests conflict with your people's interest.

he did provide his analysis. unfortunately, it's not the greatest, and this thread is useless given the topic has been discussed many times already.

there have been many, and better, tanking threads to date. moreover, Clutch wrote a great article, and there was a thread discussing said article, that also touched heavily on this topic.

Yonizzel, these ideas have been discussed previously and recently. jsut fyi...

Rockets winning this year means no picks in the deepest draft in years - if we trade the Knicks pick...

I wonder what Morey is thinking...

What do you mean? Why are we still discussing this? Read Clutch's article!

he's thinking he's been given a directive to NOT tank, so he's trying to get better.

    the end.

Yes captain obvious. But the question is WHY. Profit? Or do they really think that this is the way the Rockets will get a ring?

Are you kidding me? You answer your question in your first sentence, and it then makes the rest of your post look like a POS. Morey has already stated multiple times that the best way to rebuild is through the draft, but Les has not allowed it. So no, Morey's interests do not conflict with ours. And finally, in response to the rest of the mindless crap spewing about the GARM - why are you so worried about Morey? He has done the very best possible when the owner, and his employer for that matter, has prohibited tanking. We should be worried about Les instead, how long will it take for him to realize that without Yao, and without tanking, this team is going nowhere financially as well as competitively?

I think Morey is a bean counter until there is evidence to the contrary.

why would les want to tank. You get good draft picks when you ****ing suck. When teams suck, no one watches. Houston is fickle enough as it is. Of course it's about profit, what else is there? Not like they are guaranteed a Kevin Durant in any given draft.

Les has ticket sales as his main goal. Making the playoffs, or being just out of them, creates interest and fills seats. Everyone wants to be there to support their Rockets. Tanking and being at the bottom for five or more years, doesn't sell tickets. Many here would love to see young players develop, but this likely doesn't hold true for the more casual fans. Plus Les knows that the draft is a crap-shoot and may in the long run, leave you still languishing in mediocrity.

I will take your question serious instead of belittling you. Does Morey have his own agenda? Its fair to say its human nature for every man to have his own goals. I do not know the man, and therefor do not know if he is a fan of the Rockets team itself. His goals are unknown to us the public. So far the company line is to build a contender.

Now if that company plan is working? No it is not so far. Not the way he is going about it. As for his own personal goals? I do not know if it conflicts with the company mantra Les Alexander put out there for him.
