I'd do an unhealthy Tmac for an AI ANY day of the week. Sure we lose some size in the backcourt, but at least you can count on Iverson to play games. It's way too risky with Tmac's back and all. I love the guy and what he's done for us and what he does on the court. But having Iverson and getting what he gives (points, hustle, heart, possibly more fans) along with Yao would make for a great show. I'm all for it.
no no never. AI would not be a good fit in Houston. He'd be a 6 footer on an already small team. Besides we want people to defer to Yao, I don't see AI buying into that. We don't want Yao saying AI is the best player on the team and taking less shots than he already does. Tmac will be back and his back will be fine. This injury is just what we needed to get Bonzi onto the team. A blessing in disguise.
Because I don't want T-Mac to leave. You freakin' fair weather fan. either love the rockts for who they are or become a spurs fan.
Right here is the ONLY reason we would even think to trade TMac for AI, TMac is a big 2 and AI is a small 2, AI is a scoring machine, but a healthy TMac is as good as ANYONE in the league. Right now as much as I LOVE TMac, I have to say trade him right now because they really need to have win NOW attitude and TMac's back is killer, and Yao is getting 0 help... We need another prime time player. That could be AI and I hope it is.
AI FOR SURE buys into it, whether anyone wants to believe it. He gets a decent amount of assists (7-8 per game) with a team that SUCKS. I am sure that AI is right now absolutely looking to win 1st (because he turned down a trade to Charlotte where he was going to be prime time man). Right now AI wants to win, yes he will shoot and shoot ALOT, but I think it will be less than before, my guess if he joins Rockets you can expect 28 ppg (at around 35-45% shooting), 10-11 assists, 2 steals, 10-12 FTs shot per game, and someone who BRINGS IT every night. Now I am not saying trade TMac if he is healthy because I believe he is MUCH BETTER than AI if healthy, but lets be honest he isnt and probably won't ever be for a full season. Its the sad reality.
Tmac's injury is not "little"- back injury is a chronic condition and most posters on this board has agreed on that. Even if he's playing, the fear of injuring his back is obviously affecting his game. Some of you are making Tmac more selfless than he really is. Sure Iverson would rather shoot than passing to an open Korver, so does Tmac to Yao every time he's open? If you remember correctly in in the earlier game threads people were complaining how much more shots Tmac was taking than Yao, lots of which were ill-advised jumpers. So don't blow that comparison out of proportions. Remember AI was teamed with Webber last year, who averaged 20ppg despite shooting only 44% (meaning he took a lot of shots). It's pretty much a consensus among knowledgeable NBA fans that AI is more strong-minded than Tmac. Anyone who refutes is either mentally r****ded or a demented TOF. AI is on Kobe's level with regards to heart. Last year he was plagued with all sorts of injuries, but did not let that affect his game one bit. At his worst Tmac has no heart. So basically it's a question of attitude vs durability. If AI and Tmac were both healthy, there is no way in #$@@ we will trade Tmac. But the history and the facts are that AI will be more serviceable unless some miracle cures Tmac's back. Also AI has one less year in his contract. Having AI would also make the Rockets a lot more interesting to watch. Btw whether or not to trade Tmac has nothing to do with YOF's or YOH's, terms utilized by clueless doochebag(s). Any YOF would prefer Tmac to AI because they have better chemistry.
Philly will not do it. They are looking for rebuilding. I don't think we can get much in return for TMAC nowadays. We just have to live with it for the next few years.
for all you guys pro or against AI/TMac trade, have you asked yourself a question? Does Philly want TMac?
If you're getting crappy offfers from other teams I don't see why they wouldn't go for it. They're getting another superstar to fill the seats in return.
phill will not want tmac for AI trade straight up, unless everyone else is offering craps to them. Which based on what I have seem, this is the case. Everyone is holding onto their young talents, except maybe the wolves. As this could be the last chance to redeem KG's service. anyone beside yao or tmac i am willing to trade for AI. remember we needed a 3rd scorer, and if we replace tmac with AI, we pretty much the same and starting all over.
that has to be the most r****ded analysis i have ever seen... think about it, your saying tmac is great by looking at records... sure 2 superstars playing at start is better than only Yao. but that record doesn't assume that AI is playing. still have 2 allstars...
It is not going to happen, TMac has a back problem, it is too risk to have him for everyone. We have to keep him and use his some skills to make others better, he will never 100% like before, almost sure.
I like Rafer, Howard, Bonzi, for AI. I would even be willing to throw Luther in though I really like him. AI's heart is big enough to add 8" to his 6'-0" frame. He can shoot, dribble penetrate, d-up, and dish. I like him. I would not give T-Mac away however. I like him a lot too, bad back and all. He will be back this season and get better.
its tough..AI is awsome to watch..the guy plays with heart and leaves it all on the court...if he can mesh with Yao, why not...people say he can't coexist with another superstar Big Man but he has never had the opporutnity..how can you say he can't until you give him the chance.... I love TMAC and when he plays, we are contenders...BUT i'm tired of holding my breath every time he goes down...we can't live with this risk...it will always be there.... if TMAC didn't get hurt last week, I would say hell NO...but now, I think in the long run, we will be better off....Plus I see the fire in Iverson's eyes that I don't see in TMAC..its like he has lost the joy of playing ball.... I would be happy either way...but I would lean towards doing it..AI for TMAC..but NO WEBBER!!!
perfectly said..except the last paragraph..everybody has a right to their opinions....but I agree with what you said..
As much as I don't like AI, but he is a better player than TMac when both are healthy. You guys are talking like AI only knows to score with a low shooting %, but forgot that he played a lot PG in both colleague and NBA, so the guy can do a lot more than just scoring.
AI is not a better player than t-mac when healthy and he is most definitely not a better fit with yao. i just don't buy that at all. also listening to the radio there are way too many people who think iverson is some kind of ironman who isn't going to miss any games. he isn't. over the last five years t-mac has played in an average of 68.6 games, a little over a game more than ironman iverson at an average of 67.4 games. mcgrady has the back spasms and the uncertainty, and i get people are tired of that, but even though he's dealt with this since orlando he's been on the court more then iverson has.
If TMac can't get back to his peak form by the end of this season, the rockets organization will regret not trading him for A.I., If they decide not to do the trade now. A.I. plays though injury his whole career, that guy is a pretty good scorer and passer.
