What a steal if we get Tmac for AI. With Yao offensive in first half and AI in second half, that will automatically a contender instead of "rockets is a contender if Tmac and Yao are healthy" I hate to say this, but I have to. "TMac will never be healthy for a full season"
You won't ever question his drive, he brings it every game. He's a reliable scorer, more so than Tmac now days. Averages more assists than Tmac, even though McGrady is having a career year. My biggest thing about AI is he is relentless. He'll be tops in FT attempts, constantly attacking the hole. I could just see Iverson + Yao working better than McGrady and Yao. Who knows.
T-Mac is one of the most fragile players in the NBA. I love the guy, and I think JVG does too. He's got great chemistry with Yao as well. But, I don't think you can just plug AI on this team and expect immediate success. It would take some time for the team to gel. Honestly, T-Mac's a great guy, and I don't see anyone on the Rockets brass wanting to screw up the chemistry on the team now that we're 14-7.
I will take AI everyday over TMac. TMac 20 20 35.0 .419 .287 .676 0.9 4.7 5.6 6.3 1.0 0.6 3.15 2.00 19.2 AI 15 15 42.7 .413 .226 .885 0.5 2.3 2.7 7.3 2.2 0.1 4.40 1.40 31.2 Consider TMac has yao to draw double team, AI has poor support, AI can improve his percentage easily when play with yao. Plus, you never know when Tmac will be out for how long. If it is during playoff, that ruins a whole season.
We're an instant satisfaction society. We want change just for that instance of gratification. We don't know how good we have it until we lose it
i never said i wanted the trade.....he said some FACTS about AI which are in fact true. im agreeing with what he said
i could go either way, AI would look great in that white and red uniform, and i dont know how much more i can take of t-mac's back(im not ready to give up on him just yet, i still have confidence in him), but do yall really think a t-mac/ AI trade would really happen? seriously? just a question... however if we were to make a trade that does not involve t-mac and us getting AI, then they might as well give us the rings right now!
it wont happen....but what makes you think tmac's back will get better. even if he sits out a month and comes back. the guy got hurt trying to contest a shot! if he gets hurt doing that, what will happen when/if we're in the playoffs when the games get more physical
first of all its WHEN we get into the playoffs , im just tryin to be optimistic here, perhaps its hopeless but i dont want to give up on him just yet
Along the same vein, the unknown always looks better because it hasn't been proven otherwise (start Novak, Vspan, etc). Of course on paper it looks like everyone should be going after AI. But we all know better. I agree AI has got heart, tough player, all effort, etc, but I think it could just as easily explode in our face. High risk, high reward. Unless there's a fortune teller who knows Tmac's career is over right now, at 14-7 I wouldn't try it. And I'd like to stick w/ some guys (Yao, Tmac, Hayes, Battier, Head) even in dire circumstances. I won't lie though, it would be really interesting to see what would happen if AI and Yao played side-by-side.
it doesnt hurt to be a little optimistic, but youre probably right, i guess i'm still stuck in the '04/'05 season, but arent we all
iverson for tmac??? I would do it because the risk of keeping tmac right now is greater than the risk of the team not playing well or yao dont being able to dominate with AI. Plus an allen iverson on ur team wont hurt you since Tmac is giving 0 stats right now for an "indefinate" period now and in the future.
If Van Gundy could get right with the idea of Iverson on the Rockets I'd do this in a second. McGrady's back scares the hell out of me and we are not at all equipped to be without one of our two stars over and over again. How long is he signed for anyway? Do we want to spend all of Yao's best years with a max player that could (and does) go down for an indeterminate time over and over again? Do we want to risk that in the playoffs? Every year? I love the hell out of McGrady, but if you believe as I do, that we can never again be confident of his health you'd be hard pressed to imagine getting better value back for him than Iverson. Every time this sort of thing comes up it's met with the idea that if T-Mac has a chronic injury we can't get value back and if he doesn't we wouldn't want to trade him. Well, it looks to me like his injury is chronic and that any relief we might feel for that is unreliable. And it looks like Philly's over a barrell such that they might consider it. I say pull the trigger if they're willing. That's all with the caveat of JVG likely being a dealbreaker. If he can't get right with AI, it won't do us any good to trade for him.
