Both players pass the ball. Players want to play with those guys. Players think differently than posters do. Neither is seen as sucking the life out of the ball from free agents.
Harden>Kobe. Winning is fun on the court, but off-the court I think Harden is a great teammate (necklace). Nobody wanted to play with Kobe unless forced to like Shaq, trades (Gasol), or draftees (Ariza, Bynum). Karl Malone and Gary Payton did go Lakers, but neither enjoyed their stay. Dwight did, but he was gone in 1 year. Kobe off-the court is no fun. Without Beard, we would not have another light bearded guy.
No jordnnnn, after game 6 and given Harden's ball dominance, I did not think any top flight guards like CP3 would be interested in joining Harden - especially at an opt in discounted rate... had CP3 gotten his 5/200M I would have said he just did it for the money... but as he did not get his big payday (yet) I stand corrected. Happy? I will however add the following caveat... as James reportedly 'heavily recruited CP3' I am assuming he was able to satisfy any concerns CP3 had... such as an explanation as to why Harden flat out quit in game 6... and undoubtedly James offered him assurances that such an inexcusable event would not occur again... Unfortunately, the Rockets fan base has not been given any such explanation or assurances... we're all more like John Wall... we saw what we saw and draw our opinions and conclusions from that... if there's an explanation or assurance to be given - I'd sure love to hear it... as I'm sure many other fans would as well...
Well said! Too logical for some around here. You have arguably (no argument, in my opinion, but someone will argue, regardless) the two best point's in the league owning the same backcourt. I can imagine a lot of high caliber players wanting to join them because they know they will get a ton of open looks, inside and outside, from two players that are superb scorers themselves. They'll get into the post-season with a team that could go a long way. With a little more tinkering by the Wizard in Charge and with the luck every team needs, no matter how good they are, they have a puncher's chance of winning the WC Finals. That's a player's dream - a realistic shot at playing for a championship. They'll also get a lot of media attention and endorsements, something James has found in Houston, and something that Chris has in his pocket already and that won't end. In fact, there could very well be some spillover from "Cliff" for the other guys. Houston's become a very attractive destination for free agents and some who might wish they were free to join, in my opinion.
Exactly. I doubt Spurs would give him that kind of contract. Look at the league, this is probably the team with best record that are willing to offer him that contract.
One thing you guys seem to miss, all the "No one will want to play with Harden" guys. Players are like coaches. Unless there is a grudge between them, they will always stick up for other players. Chris Paul probably doesn't think that Harden is some massive choker. Chris Paul probably thinks that he was worn down. Chris Paul like any elite player thinks "Obviously, if I'm there, he's not so tired and we shoulder through that." You guys keep thinking that players see game 6 and see some massive choker they can't play with. Instead, they see a guy that needs help and them being the missing piece to that help.
Except Except We did not offer him that. He could have done the samething with the spurs if he wanted to to opt in his current contract and sign and trade like he did here but instead HE WANTED TO PLAY WITH HARDEN.The Spurs would have jumped on the opportunity to have him for this year on the current contract he opted in.
he should let those whiskers grow out a bit and then they can be the Beard Brothers, nickname dilemma SOLVED.
I think Howard and CP3 are testaments that they do. Other than Harden and his winning, why else is anyone coming here? Even a IPad couldn't get Bosh to come
