you know what i want to do? i want to create a perimeter around a speeding cop on the freeway, if there were a way to get 8 cars around the cop car and they all travel at teh same speed it would be awesome....the pig would be contained inside the box with nowhere to go

Hell I'm a middle-aged semi-affluent brown guy and they don't mess with me for some reason. :D I have friends that are cops - they must transform into evil demons at work, because they're cool as hell when not on the job. They tell me it's stressful as hell, but that's about it. I do know a secret service/SWAT/DEA guy that's a bit of an ass but I don't tell him that because I fear for me life. ;)

Yeah, great idea. It's not like they have a siren and lights that they can flip on at a moment's notice.

When did you develop a cockney accent?

I'm a middle aged white guy, and I get harassed all the time. But I'm an ass, myself.

I hated cops as a teen and in my early 20s. Now I'm 30. I hate them more now but now I have the money and a little life experience behind me so that I can calmly and articulately tell them how I feel about how they are treating me when I am unfortunate enough to deal with them.

As a side not, I was in Los Angeles a few years ago with my then girlfriend and her family. Her dad happens to be a Vietnam vet as well as a retired HPD Homicide Detective who now works for the DA's office in Houston. Anyway, the girlfriend's dad makes a u turn on a red light (no cars coming...no danger) and this LA cop pulls him over and strolls up the side of the car gripping his gun (but keeping it in the holster and I have no idea why he felt the need to hold his gun). GF's dad rolls down the window and the cop says to gf's dad "hello sir. I pulled you over because when a light is red, you stop at that light. do you know what color the light has to be for you to go?" Bad move by cop.

I see gf's dad looked over at gf's wife as he reaches into his back pocket and for his wallet. He looked like he was about to kill this cop. He hands the cop his wallet with it open exposing his HPD ID. The cop turns red and gets a look on his face like he just got caught with is pants down. He says to gf's dad "you a cop?" and gets a stone cold, eff you look as her dad says "yep." The cop says "have a good night" and practically runs back to his car and drives off. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

But didn't your girlfriend's father deserve a ticket? Why should being a cop get him out of a ticket for admittedly running a red light?

Regardless of the fact that no cars were coming, he did break the law.

It was the smarta$$ way the cop handled it. Asking a 60 year old man if he "knows what color the light is when you can go?" was unprofessional and stupid.

That's the part I don't understand. I can understand it being a professional courtesy to not want to give a ticket to other officers, but why was your GF's dad angry in the first place? He did break the law after all.

Yeah, it's better because it does not go on my record so my rates don't go up but it is still major BS!

Yeah, I had something like this happen to me before. I pulled into a shopping center from a side street next to it. Apparently there was a sign that said you couldn't turn left into the shopping center because there was no turning lane (didn't see the sign; it was late at night). Cop waves me over next to another car he had already pulled over. While I'm pulled over, he also ends up waving over another 2-3 cars that all did the same thing I did. I'm pretty sure they did it basically just as an excuse to see if anyone was drunk driving (this was late at night on a Fri or Sat in a college town). Anyway, he ended up giving me a ticket for not having my address updated on my license. Kinda a weak ticket, but it was much better than a weak moving violation ticket.

What? You can get a ticket if your address isn't updated on your license?

Sure thing. It's one of those things they will dismiss and make you pay administrative fee, once you get it resolved.

I guess I gotta stop procrastinating on getting my address updated or I'll just drive lawfully to not get pulled over. :D

Just get a $100 club sticker, you won't get pulled over near as much.

lol, this is the last question and answer on their FAQ:

Q: Will the 100 Club decal keep me from getting a ticket?
A: The decal is a visual sign of support for first responders who put their lives on the line daily so we can live in a safe community.

nice way to circumvent the question. :)

There are different types of "cops" and agencies...city police, sheriff, constable, state trooper, etc....

I hate Sheriffs and Constables the most. It seems like they make less than most city police officers and they take out their anger on the public. Stupid pricks.
