You go to Costco to buy 1 item?

No wonder the store's so crowded.

I’m a grapes fiend, my fridge gotta be stocked at all times

I will go into Costo just for some grapes with pride…maybe snatch some peaches and pineapple too while I’m there

It does surprise me how packed Costco and HEB can be at off-hours. Occasionally, on a Tuesday around 2pm I'll get a chance to go grab something I need for that night, and these places are always packed.

I find Costco pretty reasonable on a weekday early afternoon. H-E-B is ridiculous. I’ve left H-E-B and gone down to Kroger at 1pm on a Tues because I couldn’t park. There was a drive around line for parking. That’s jacked. I will say those soccer moms get fixed up for that Montrose H-E-B so there’s a bright side if you brave the crowds.

Costco patrons usually buy in bulk. And the only people who buy in bulk are:
    1) business owners
    2) people with kids
    3) people who find weekly grocery shopping to be inconvenient.

Typically, boomers occupy the majority of categories 1 and 3. While 2 sees people across many ages, you're typically not going to see 20-25 year olds even if they do have kids.

I will say, though, that the self-checkout lines are a mess...at least, the Costco in Katy. I, too, need only 2 or so items, but you have multiple people in the self-checkout lines with like 20+, always needing an employee to come over and help.

    So. Annoying.

Best time to go to the HEB in Marble Falls is 9-10AM on a Sunday. The masses are in church (especially the bluehairs), the weekenders & tourists are loading up to leave town, they have all the fresh stuff out in the bakery/meat/seafood/produce, plus sample stations.

I lived in Hattiesburg for work for a couple of years, only Winn Dixie and a god damn Sam's Club, so I had to spring for a membership and resist the urge to spend $7,999 on the camo-detailed ATV in the lobby or, in a county (Forrest) named after the founder of the Klan, the Young Heroes of the Confederacy kids' books near the socks and towels.

But you live in the Garden Ridge campus of the Krogerfiestadome Academy, you shouldn't need to box out Hofheinz and Williams voters at some membership cult to get your rations.
