I thought the Rockets were trying to do that similarly with Loren Woods, bring in Deke-like measurables at the position. Someone that did a translation earlier said Rockets expressed interest in 2007, close to the same Loren Woods period and around the Brent Barry signing. So its not like Mbenga was NOT on the Rockets radar, like Rockets were totally asleep. I guess for some reason they just didnt want to bring him in. Or they felt confident enough to stay with Deke for half a season, didnt want someone else to impose on his spot.

I defend the Brent Barry signing, remember the Rockets had backups Luther Head and Bobby Jackson fresh off poor playoff performances. Von Wafer was no where on anyone's radar. But its been obvious for a while the lack of true talls on the Rockets.
