I've been using the Pioneer DJM600 mixer since it came out and the DJM500 before that. I've never had any problems and it's worth the money.

I personally think the Pioneer CDJ-800 is way better than the 1000's as I have both. That's what I'd go with.

Incidentally, that is what they have at the Toyota Center up in the sound booth (2 CDJ-800s with a Vestax mixer)

Most nightclubs however uses the Denon 2600 or other Denon cd players. (why I don't know)

Just like jwun says, if you are trying to do this professionally, go with the best gear. You don't want to go thru different mixers and cd players every year like computers and waste your money. Why do you think Technic 1200s turntables have been the industry standard for over 3 decades.

    Good luck

they use Denons in clubs because Denon makes the best audio equipment in the world, they sound great all the time and they can handle a lot of abuse

    I got my CMX-3000 for about $700
I got my Numark Matrix 3 for about $200
    I got my EFX-500 for about $300

Great equipment and i got them all of Ebay...you can really find some great deals there...THey have a lot of dutch auctions(on mixers especially) where you can find some great prices

as for mixers, you really want to look at what you are going to be doing

if you are going to be scratching heavily for example with hip hop etc you will want to get a great scratch mixer. Vestax makes probably the best scratch mixers

if you are going to be spinning house, trance, and more dance music, you will want a mixer with lots of options for tweaking the sound, kill switches, and LOTS of inputs, because you will want to have a Dual CD player as well as 2TTs

for TTs if you wanna stick with the 1200s its cool but there are a lotta great new TTs coming out
the one i like the most right now is the Numark TTX-01. Great turntable with so many more features and for a great price. Plus it looks much cooler and that never hurts:cool:
