Legend, While I agree with some points you have made, I think this is quite a stretch. If a man at a factory gets replaced with a machine, he becomes more educated and operates the machine, or fixes the machine, or builds the machine, or ..... If all the guy can do is something that a machine can replace, was his work really that worthwhile or rewarding? And about your growing service industry, that is growing because more and more people can afford those services that only the rich used to get! Welfare programs are good for those that need them temporarily, or have circumstances out of their control, but wealth redistribution is a bad idea. Just ask the workers who used to build yachts in the 80's. A virtually destroyed industry due to the government thinking it needed to redistribute some income via luxury taxes.
