Here are a few things I want everyone to consider when they say we don't need to trade either Artest or T-mac this season.

Rockets have lost 19 games this season here is a break down of how many games the Rockets have lost with the big 3 in, 2 of the big 3 in, and then 1 of the big 3 in.

    Big 3 losses: Celtics, @Trailblazers, @Lakers, @Spurs, @Cavaliers, Wizards,
    @Raptors, 76ers = 8

    Big 2 losses: Mavericks, Pacers, @Nuggets, @Clippers, @Hornets, @76ers,
    @Knicks = 7

    Big 1 losses: @Grizzlies, @Hawks, Lakers, Pacers = 4

Don't you think the trend should be going the other way, we should be losing less when the big 3 are in instead we are losing more. Also take this into consideration, the 4 losses we had when Yao was the only one of the big 3 playing only in the Grizzlies game did we get beat by more then 5 points. The other 3 losses were very close games. Also take note that the only bad team the Rockets lost to when Yao was carrying the load were the Grizzlies. Look at some of the teams the Rockets have lost to while having the big 2 or 3 on the court(Clippers, Raptors, Knicks, Wizards, 76ers twice).

This isn't rocket science here its just the facts pure and simple and in black in white. Our team is worse when we have all 3 on the court, someone needs to go so we can try and salvage this season and get back to where we need to be. I think everyone here doesn't feel that this team is just as bad as the Dallas Mavericks or the Phoenix Suns but yet we have pretty much the same record as them and it didn't have to be this way if we would have just left Wafer starting and not brought T-mac and Ron into an equation that shouldn't include them in the first place. There's no room for showboaters on a Adelman team and unless we want to change coaches Ron and/or T-mac are the odd men out.

Well, you have to factor in health of the big 3 and also not having time to gel together yet. Who knows if they can do it in half a season. It's like going from elementary school to getting a phd.

If they are healthy enough to get out on the court they are healthy enough to help win a game. Being healthy has been a tired excuse for this team ever since the late 90's. Every team has injuries and unhealthy players but somehow they find a way to win games. Do our guys just not have the heart? I'm starting to think so. Oh and btw if you want to crunch the numbers on who's been healthy in which games and who hasn't be my guest because just thinking about trying to do that makes my head hurt with this team.

It's clear that you don't have the heart to watch basketball. It's too much for you. Stop watching. Stop posting. Take up knitting. Buy a puppy. Go away.

As a system analyst i will say you need to factor in the number of games the big 3 played, number of games the big 2 only played and number of games 1 big 3 played to get the winning/losing % else the information provided by you is meaningless!

What about we just don't label Yao, TMac and Ron Ron as the "Big Three" any more ? Rox must concentrate on defense and play smart team games to get a better playoff spot and to be successful in the playoff.

Indeed we need all three of them to win playoff games, but the conditions that they must be healthy physically and mentally, focusing on defense and playing smart games can't be denied.

It seems that at this point in time most of our role players are ready but the starters (except Scola) have a lot to learn.

why dont you take into account how many games they have played together as 3, 2, or 1?

i'm sure there are far fewer games played this season with only 1 star, thus the loss total is reduced.

lets see winning %, rather than loss column.

Agreed. I think you need the percentage of games lost under each of the 3 scenarios (Big 3 playing, Big 2 playing, Big 1 playing) before attempting to draw any conclusions.
There is also the question of sample size, not to mention the identity of the missing players (ie is Tmac only missing the same as only Yao missing, etc)

The fact is we still don't know what the Big 3 (I use this term loosely) can do.
    -One reason is health.
-The more important reason IMHO is the fact that everyone has not bought into the team concept.

There is still time for both of these things to be corrected, but the clock is ticking.

was this supposed to be suprising? the team has taken two steps back since t-mac and artest came back. we had an identity with Wafer starting. we knew exactly how he was going to play and how Yao was going to play and how Scola was and how Barry was going to play...etc.

now we have to adjust to the constant iso plays from t-mac and artest. it doesnt help that they're so streaky. you don't know what the hell you're going to get from ron, and t-mac brings it only whenever he feels like it. now everyone's role has changed. where has yao been?

This is extremely poor logic. Quantity of losses means nothing without knowing the quantity of total games played.

    • The Rockets are 15-8 (.652 winning percentage) with all three players.
    • The Rockets are 9-7 (.562 winning percentage) with two of the three players. (2-3 with Yao/T-Mac and no Artest, 6-2 with Yao/Artest and no T-Mac, 1-2 with T-Mac/Artest and no Yao)
    • The Rockets are 4-4 (.500 winning percentage) with one of the three players. (and these numbers are ONLY with Yao being the sole player to play ... there is no data this year with just Artest or just McGrady).

The trend does go the other way.

    Not really.

Rockets are 4-3 with the Big Three plus Battier so far. Lost to the Cavs and bad losses to the Wizards and Sixers. Offensively, the Rockets all put up good numbers in those 7 games.

PS. Of those 7 games, the Rockets are 0-3 with Rafer Alston and 4-0 without him. HA HA HA HO HO HO.

Wait, so if Rafer is out, and we have our big 3 + Shane and Brooks starting.....we don't lose?

Is that what you are saying?

Come on Rick....READ THIS THREAD !!

    :D

    DD

PS. It seems the hidden message is that Rafer and Tmac do not work well togeher.....they both need to be the guy initiating the offense....I was very impressed with Rafer when Tmac was out in a "Setting up his teamates" way....but when Tmac is back he is asked to be a stand up shooter....not good...not good....

So....trade for a PG that does fit in....like....oh...say...Hinrich....

look, this team needed to have more practice time together, with all players. i know health is a tired excuse but it's what keeps this team from actually having a decent practice session. people don't know what their roles are, they don't have a plan when someone comes back, they become clueless. you might say they have won more games without t-mac or ron but the reason they won is because they have consistency during the 2 week span. when t-mac or ron comes back, everything shifts because they haven't been there.

Can we say that Celtics lost all their games with their big 3 and won all their games without their big 3?
