While I support Obama by far, I'm not a fan of this, despite the fact it's legal...seems dishonest.

Any technique that is legal, not based on deception, and leads to more Americans voting gets my stamp of approval.

Any technique that discourages voter turnout (and there are many such techniques) get the stamp of disgust.

Every campaign does this. The Obama campaign is certainly more sophisticated, but voter registration data is public, so all campaigns do similar things.

Obama's massive ground operation is on trial in this election. There has never been anything quite like it. The number of people involved and the amount of money committed to it are unprecedented. We'll see whether it bites the Republicans or ends up biting Obama by not delivering enough Dem votes to make the effort worthwhile.

Agreed. It is a disgrace that the government does not try to register everyone in a non-partisan fachion. It shows a real deficit in our democracy.

I think I was more disappointed with the campaign manager sounding all cocky. I mean, we've lost the last 2 elections, let's not act like experts at winning.
