    the latest...
SportsRadio610 just reported that EG is still on the team and can return to the team even after this incident. Also reported that Steve Francis has spoken to EG and understands the situation and is working with him and the team to get it resolved. JVG said EG can return to the team but it will depend on his actions..

That shows good leadership from Stevie. These kinds of things make me proud to be a Rockets fan?

    Please do not remind me.

First, we trade a king's ransom for him, then we refuse to trade him for a king's ransom in return.

Messing up once with him is one thing, but twice?

clutch can you do anything about this thread or possibly create a new thread that just has updates of the situation. i don't know...this one is really pissing me off because people have turned it into a D&D thread with people bickering back and forth. all i want is some facts about what is happening. is what benz said true? has eddie contacted steve and jvg since this happened? what is going on?

If anything were happening it would be posted here immediately. Seventeen pages of mostly nonsense and now you're getting pissed off? You sound like a whiny b****.

This is so cool. Reading along an "Eddie in Big Trouble" thread, you get educated on the hisotry of "kumbayah", the good things bout Elsik, how to buy a sarcasm detector, and front view design of David Weekley houses. This is definately the best bbs in the world. :D

    Can't rush to judgement.

Man, don't get me wrong, I'm glad we've done what we have in the drafts the last few years...if we hadn't, Yao Ming might not be in a Rockets uni right now. But didn't Eddie's issues at the Hall make any of the Rockets' brass hesitate? This is some tough shi't he's in, some serious allegations. Brotha needs to realize that when you get into that stuff, it's not too easy to get out. Did this whole episode start because of the kid? Not sure what to think, but I'll have my opinion when the facts come into light.

Dude...what is your problem? I just heard about this stuff today and you tend to think the worst. Then when you try to get info you see the thread has been taken completely off topic by people who post nonsense and start debating stuff and talking about race and all this other stuff. It's annoying when you see people derail threads and especially ones that involve important stuff like gunfire at a player's house. I haven't been able to check things lately so I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with the 17 pages of BS.

Thanks for adding to the BS by insulting me. I'm glad we are trying to keep it mature here.

You're welcome. Now please stop trying to derail page 17 of this thread, thank you.

Probably not. If you have millions of dollars playing basketball, you have a lot of options. You can afford hiring a lawyer to get visiting rights to your kid as you are entitled to. You might even get the kid's custody right.

    Eddie is just not mature.

Well, it's nice to see Steve taking an interest in Griffin. Hopefully with support from the teamates, Griffin can get this entire mess straightened away.

And now, to inject some unwanted levity into these proceedings...

I like that this came from "Smoke", but would've been better coming from "Smokey", both of whom are in this thread!

I am sorry , but you are wrong. I went to Roman Catholic High with Eddie. The school does have a zero tolerance for fighting, However, Eddie was not "expelled" he was just "suspended" and was not allowed to attend his graduation. He did recieve his diploma by mail. Trust me the school wanted to protect eddie cause he was bringing in all this prestige and there was no way they were gonna expell him. I personally witnessed another fight between eddie and some other guy on the team.

    Griffin accuser denies trespassing
Woman says Rockets player invited her to his home, later hit, shot at her
    By MIKE GLENN
    Copyright 2003 Houston Chronicle

A woman who claimed she was beaten and shot at by Houston Rockets forward Eddie Griffin is denying allegations that the confrontation began when she forced her way into his home, an attorney acting as her spokesman said.

"She had been invited over," Edward Chernoff said Sunday. "When she came over -- I think maybe the timing was poor -- Mr. Griffin was with somebody else and he became angry with her."

Joann Romero, 21, reported to police early Saturday that Griffin punched her in the face, bloodying her lip and bruising her right eye.

"When she got in the car and drove away, he shot at her," Chernoff said. "She was not grazed by the bullet, and her car was not shot."

Romero told police she then left Griffin's home in the 3900 block of Shadow Trace Circle and reported the incident to authorities from another location shortly before 5 a.m. She was later treated at Spring Branch Medical Center for what police described as "serious injuries" to her face.

"She certainly wasn't a burglar," Chernoff said. "She's been to his house on several occasions at his invitation -- just like this time."

There was nobody at Griffin's house Sunday. His lawyer, Rusty Hardin, declined to comment about Romero's accusation that she was assaulted at the basketball player's upscale home in a gated community in southwest Houston. However, Hardin said the woman was "both distorting the relationship and the circumstances of why she was there."

"He had run her off twice that night," Hardin said. "He has tried to get her to leave him alone for some period of time."

About an hour prior to the incident that resulted in the allegations that she was beaten and shot at, Romero rang the doorbell and was refused entrance. She later went inside without permission and was escorted out of the house by Griffin, Hardin said.

"She's just mischaracterizing everything," Hardin said. "She is clearly a trespasser -- there's no question about that."

Chernoff said Romero and Griffin had a casual, although romantic, relationship going back at least two years.

"This was not a `stranger groupie' situation. This is a woman who had been over to his house several times and had been invited this time," he said. "She's not guilty of any crime. She's not guilty of doing anything except coming over on invitation. She came over at the wrong time."

Chernoff said his law firm won't be representing Romero in any future legal actions. He said he is acting as her spokesman because he knows a friend of her family.

Romero was with her family Sunday at their home in the 9600 block of Maribelle, Chernoff said.

"She's doing fine," he said. "She has a busted lip and she's bruised up, but she's doing fine."

Romero is apprehensive about playing a role in a high-profile criminal case involving a professional sports figure like Griffin, Chernoff said.

"She knows she's going to be involved in a system that can get very difficult," he said. "She knows that she's going to be testifying, and she knows that she's going to be asked a lot of questions and accused of things. She's already been accused of being a burglar."

Houston police on Sunday said no charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing and they've yet to speak to Griffin about the allegations that have been leveled against him.

Hardin said his client probably won't be making a voluntary statement to detectives.
