disney pratically owns anaheim now but i think they made a slight mistake building the theme park in a town that they should have forcasted that would blow up. they cant really expand at all, they did create a second theme park next to disneyland which i havent been to but i heard blows (california adventure) disneyland in general now is sooo crowded with all the hotels around it and downtown disney i hate going around in that area. the one good thing disneyland was able to do is once i was inside i totally forgot that like a major city was just on the outside, like when i go to six flags i know there is just houses and nothing around me. same with knotts berry farm and universal studios but not at disneyland.
orlando is a mosquito ridden, humid swamp where it rains all the time too. actually, i would argue that houston is better than orlando, climate-wise.
disney, himself, acknowledged it was a problem. disneyworld was his vision..he hated the urban growth that took root around the disneyland.
omg forget disney... at 250 acres and 600million this eathquest thing sounds huge. From the modicum of information on the web it seems to be something like a Busch Gardens.
lol no I have been to DisneyWorld actually, I'll take your word for it though, but it's hard to see how Disney could maximize their profits in Houston, where rain is prevalent(not saying it's not the same in Orlando). Of course, the land is pretty cheap though.
The rumor about Disney is about Katy, not Galveston. Orlando is about an hour drive off the Gulf coast. Katy is about the same. It's actually a comparable deal. In Orlando, BTW, during the summer rains almost daily. A big thunderstorm right around 4:00pm.
maybe they can have a High School Musical Pep Rally there. And maybe Vanessa Hudgens will make some cameos! YES!!! i am so down for this!
Yeah I heard this rumor like 5 years ago... As it's still I guess a rumor 5 years later? I doubt this ever happens and forever will be a rumor. I can imagine my kids in 10-15 years running home after school all excited saying "I heard they are making a disneyland in katy".
absolutely. you know at some point EVERYDAY if you're there during the summer months (which my family avoids like the plague!! haven't been there during the summer months in 10 years) that it will rain. but it's disney. it's the biggest tourist draw in the world. people go anyway. most of the attractions are indoors and you make do. october is my favorite month to go.
Rumors on a Disney fan site go back to 2002: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=10179 Some of the comments about Texas are pretty funny:
yeah...and what's funny is that on that forum people from all across the country have their own little "disney is building here!!" rumors. i'm thinking it was about 1990 when i first started hearing the rumors of a disney park west of town.
I prefer December. The hotels are less expensive, no lines, and it's 70 degrees. You have to go early in the month though. Oh, and they have that one night, Christmas at Disney thing. It's when they film the TV special. The park is decked out in fake snow...the rides are open late...and there are shows galore. It's an extra $20, but is really fun.
a theme park would be great.....i'd prefer somewhere near the woodlands. that would keep those ghetto ass gangs out
