Ehh. I called to order the package and they said they would lock me in to a one year contract and I wanted month-to-month...so I settled for the 200 channel package with the phone and Elite internet for around $130/month. After doing a little negotiating I managed to get HD Service,HD DVR, 2 HD receivers free for first six months! They come in on Saturday to install...uber excited

LOL. This blows. I am watching the game through my parents Comcast service using Slingbox AV. If I am going to have to resort to this I better upgrade to the new Slingbox HD but its over $200. I can cancel Dish service for that much :p

BTW, I called and spoke with another Dish rep tonight and he doesn't think that there wont be resolution until November. WTF.

I'm dumping Dish Network too, however, you have to understand that the blame lies heavily with Fox and not Dish.

Why do I feel like a cheap hooker dumping Dish for DTV?!?!?!?!

Actually who cares!!! I get to watch my Rockets NOW!

i dropped dish network 2 years ago when they had issues with not having NBA League Pass on time went to directv and love it.

I do think though the dish receiver was nice but i prefer a tv package where i can actually watch game

if anyone is going to switch to directv let me know i'll do that refer a friend thing and we both can save some money...just pm me through the board :)

I have uverse but live in OKC I have paid for the service that has FSN Houston but the games always show "Blacked out in your area". Anyone know why a Houston game would be blacked out in OKC?

uverse is new. don't know how they do their business.

in general, you can only watch FSN specific to your region, such as FSN Southwest in OKC and FSN Houston in houston. if you live in CA, you will watch FSN specific to CA.

I believe uverse doesn't have league pass yet.

I had to cancel all together with Dish Network. It's funny how their customer service goes completely out the window when they realize that there is nothing they can do to keep you. They try to hold the cancelation fee to your head like a gun. Listen, it's not my fault that you're in conflict with Fox Sports....all I want to do is watch basketball. It's a joke! One Billion dollar company in dispute with a Billion dollar network about money and I'm in the middle. So for those looking to make the change to Direct TV or where ever else.....if you don't want them to charge you for the full cancellation fee all at once; it's probably best to cancel the card you have on file and have your bank send one out a new one in 2 business days....it's like 5 bucks at most banks. As soon as you cancel they will try to charge ANY card they have on file whether it’s an old number. It’s doesn’t matter if you stop automatic bill pay or not…they will charge the fee in full. If you’re not cool with that, then cancel the card before you cancel the service so they can just bill you and work out a payment schedule if that's your preference. Also be aware that they will CHARGE you $15 per shipping label to ship their boxes and remotes back to them!! LOL Also wanted me to go on top of my roof and get something from the satellite and send that back too....yea, they have a better chance seeing a black Easter bunny than me doing that. Just be careful when dealing with them if you decide to cancel your service. Even though you are the victim; they treat you like you're apart of the problem.

I got forwarded to a "loyalty specialist" and had to wait 45 minutes for them to show up.

They said I didnt need to send the dish itself back but the equipment, yes.

They charge 10 per month pro rated till contract is up, which for me is 11-22-2010, so thats not so bad.

For you guys that are cancelling, don't you think they will have this resolved by the time the season starts?

I'm (maybe naively) holding out hope of that...

Yea....the “loyalty dept” is a joke and a half. It just amazes me how they treat you once you're leaving. I never made a fuss, i was always polite.....I never even disputed the cancellation fees, but I was treated badly because I was switching lol. All I asked was if I was getting billed for it or were they charging my card all at once. Even though it's NO fault of ours, you would think they would be considerate and understand people's gripe...nope. I had one dude tell me that its only cost me $.55 a month for the fox stations, so it's not like you're paying much for the service (after I told him I'm paying for service I was not getting) That's class.....you can't put a price on my leisure. The Rockets are my down time and you took that away. So since you can't put a price tag on it....I told them to keep the $.55 cents and cancelled. You can’t bully me

I can only speak for myself; I watch 82 games a year....don't miss one. This dispute could go on until December from what I was told by a manager at Dish. It's so wide open at this point, so I couldn't afford to wait on them while they fight over money. Yes, it could end tomorrow or the beginning of the season or heaven forbids...December. I'm happy with my decision now because I saw their true colors when I called to cancel.

if you're looking for the best way to get rockets games + sports in general, get dish network.

i've found the best all around is U-verse, though. it's pretty awesome.

Thanks, U-verse has a promotion right now until 11/06/2010, it is a good deal. I have to look at DirectTV too. All I need is to watch the rocket games, not much others.

I think dish will sent you a box with an instruction, then you can return the equipment according to their request.
