Isn't it possible that performance is largely a result of privledge, but not neccessarily related to school funding? By this I mean, maybe kids from rich families do better given the same school environment than kids from poor families. Dallas ISD seems to be evidence of this.

There are lots of issues that can come up, so I'm sure it's a combination of things.

One thing that I didn't know is that in the Dallas ISD, the teachers with the most experience basically get to pick their assignment. So it often ends up that the best (or at least most experienced) teachers won't teach at the "worst" schools that could probably use them the most.

Dallas ISD also has high turnover and has to really work to attract teachers. I don't know the reason for this, though I've heard part of it is the feeling of a lack of respect from the DISD HQ, among other reasons.

Not true. Murder is an unlawful killing. The State kills in the name of the law, therefore it is not murder.

About the Death Row thing. I honestly don't understand why people use the racial percentages as an example of the system being racist. Where are the Asians? Is it that the cops love Asians? Or maybe Asians don't commit the type of crimes that land a person on death row. (Or don't get caught.) The only conclusion I draw from those graphs is that African Americans commit more crimes than other races.

About the AA thing at UT. This affects me personally, and I think that it's bull****. I will be applying to UT Law school in 2006, and as a half white half Asian it really screws me over. Why should an African American who isn't as smart as I am get into the school ahead of me. I've never hurt an african-american. I've never been hurt by an african-american. I've never negatively affected an african american's life in anyway, and yet I will be punished. It really makes no sense.

Surprised, I didn't know that...I always thought you were half Arab or something. My mother is from South Korea also.

So did you invent that tannersearle78 character? Because I think that character was invented by someone who is part Korean. There was another poster who was part Korean who I have not seen post in a while, I think it might have been that guy. Damn, what was his name again...

Well if the guy was part Korean he had to be me.

No that wasn't me. I've made my share of logins but that isn't one of them.
