Hells to the Yes! ...and like others have said, I know when I think of people who have terrible voices, are unable to speak well, and border on damn near illiterate, I always think one word : Oprah Winfrey
actually this series is already OUT on blu-ray in england I just dont know if there is region protection on the discs (most likely the case) to prevent them to be played here. but there are HD caps and blu-ray rips of the BBC version (see: attenborough narrating) out on the internet. I found one on demonoid that are 720p and will play on my ps3..it is large in size but well worth it to have w/o oprah and having to wait a few more weeks to see it.
Do those of you who hate Oprah hate her voice or just the person? lol. I don't find her voice really that bad for narrations. Maybe I need to listen to it. I noticed some of you hated Sigourney Weaver, but I loved her narrations on the Planet Earth series. David Attenborough is good as well, but there are times I think I'm listening to a 1950's or 1960's cartoon or something listening to him do his narrations.
Having Oprah instead of David Attenborough is just ****ing stupid. Luckily, the UK high def versions have been available for quite some time now.
Some beautiful tv, but I didn't think the content was anything we haven't seen before. Although the last bit with the dolphins circling fish with mud was interesting.
I like David Attenborough but as long as the person narrating isn't stuttering all over the place I'm not really sure it matters who does the talking. Isn't it mostly about the gorgeous pictures, I can't believe Oprah would really detract from the program that much for some of you.
I like Sigourney Weaver's narrations...and because I heard her first, it was hard to hear Attenborough's voice, but I'm warming to him. 5 minutes in though I'm just not feeling Oprah's narration. Where's Morgan Freeman when you need him.
Just got my first HD television last week. I'm breaking it in with Life and NCAA hoops. I don't know how I managed before.
Oprah Winfrey narrating life.... I mean, honestly.. trying saying that while finding a semblance of sense in it..
Oprah's voice is killing it for me. I'm going to have to Download the BBC versions.... Weaver did a great job in Planet Earth, she had a good voice for the narration....but OPRAH....bah...
