Why don't we all just e-mail blitz rockets.com and tell them how disappointed we are in their coverage. Doesn't need to be something long or hateful, but i think if enough people complained calmly and rationally they would be forced into doing something.... maybe.... Anyway, here is their e-mail adress if anyone else wants to try. I, for one, am going to let them know of our disappointment. fanear@rocketball.com
Local sports coverage is piss poor in general with the exception of 610AM. I don't get why this is the case, but it is. With that said, not too much to report in camp, unless something happens like someone getting hurt. I mean, what would be the report? I would like to see some camp pictures on Rockets.com though. As far as Astros. Hey, they are in the playoffs. They should get the bulk of the coverage right now. Texans just won 2 in a row for the first time ever. Why would Rockets training camp demand the same coverage? I know this is the Rockets board and all, but I just don't see what compelling stories could be coming out other than what already has come out. I am sure once preseason gets going, the local media will ramp up the coverage.
have yall seen houstontexans.com? this site is a real nice site.. has daily updates and has video clips .. very fan based site .. wish rockets.com can follow them
rockets dot com is and always will be a joke. clutch's site has been dormant for a while but it is important to realize that while this web forum is moderated by a team effort but every thing you see on the real site is 100 percent clutch. no team, no "others helping", no "we". i used to work with clutch at a company & the man does every single thing you see there. its not like he takes the day off and some member of a team picks up the slack. i hope evrything is ok with his family. I'm sure when he starts updating again look out b/c he has a passion for it which rockets dot bomb will never have.
Agree -- Rockets.com is piss poor. Perhaps the Rockets don't want to waste their time, considering this site covers "all of your Rocket's needs." I hope the Astros continue to DOMINATE the local sports coverage late into October.
OFF TOPIC This thread really struck a chord with the lurkers desperate for their Rockets fix ..... Arbitrary definition of lurker - less than a post a day. Let's see.....hear about how so and so is running his wind sprints or how so and so is rebounding well against a guy who probably won't even make any NBA team or hear about arguably the city's most popular sports franchise making a current, legit Championship run while facing and dominating their arch nemesis of many years past. Hmmmm, tough call. You guys suck.
I may be looking through Time's rose-tinted glasses, but I seem to recall newspaper coverage of the Rockets being much better, and more extensive, during the early-mid '80's, when we had Ralph and Akeem, and made the '86 run. At least compared to what I've seen the last few years. I also don't buy the "Astros in the playoffs" and the Texans winning two in a row deal. There is, or at least should be, room in the Chronicle for daily coverage of the Rockets training camp. Houston is a big city, to say the least, and the Chronicle doesn't have any serious competition. They should spend a couple of bucks and step up. Keep D&D Civil!!
I agree, you guys do suck. Go 'stros!! Go rockets! Once the season starts.. Go 'stros in the meantime!!
I'm with you 100% about the Rockets site not updating information about the Rockets. And, I guess I should have said that for the first time in MY recollection the Astros are leading a playoff series. My bad for that blunder. But again, the Chronicle needs to keep its staff focused on sports who are playing games that matter, not practicing for the pre-season. They're throwing us a bone here & there, and that's all I expect from them. When pre-season hits, it's still gonna be bench players and practice squad guys out there trying to earn Kelvin Cato contracts, and they'll get more than their fare share of coverage. How many times can the Chronicle run a story on how much better condition Yao is in this offseason? Or how they see great potential in bench player X? Yeah, the official rockets website should definitely try to talk about things that happened in the past month or two, that'd be nice. But the paper's doing a fine job.
For what it's worth ch 2 had a funny interview with Mutombo on at 6. He was talking about how he got last and it took him 2 hours to find his apartment.
Since rockets.com isn't reporting anything the local media should step up and give information about the training camp. Both of them are disappointing.
It'll be interesting to see what, if any, coverage there will be from China next week. At least the games are on tv.
Small blurb on channel 12 tonight. Showed the Rockets shooting some free throws, and had a quote from T-mac. He said he is looking forward to going to China and seeing alot of "short people".
This could get very ugly, maybe even ugly with Yao. Hopefully the guy who wrote this was just ****in with us. Tmac, "I wanna go see some short people." Yao, "You make their eyes look unslanted, b****."
i hate how the Rockets get NO LOVE while L'Astros get all the LOVE even when they suck . . . . . . . Rocket River
