You need a girl for a "ride ride" WinorLoseMate, you get used to be stared at when you walk around. In every country I visited I get stared at. When I was in Kyrgystan I watched a parade, and all the people were staring at me and not at the parade. Nowadays i do not even notice the people staring at me any more (ok maybe I do notice the children who pretend that I'm a monster). It is great being tall. I agree with the posts that for some reason being tall causes other to view me as more leader-like and authoritative, and that is also good .
Well, yeah, there are some disadvantages to being tall (I'm 6' even). But I bet there are more disadvantages to being short. I like being (somewhat) tall.
Over 6' 5" there are likely disadvantages. Head bumping, freak factor, clothes buying kind of stuff. And possibly health issues. At 6' I can't think of any reasons I'd rather be shorter. Though most of the really old people I know are short. So maybe the shorter people live longer?
that's absolutely not true. it's a social thing. during the 70's height didn't matter as much as it did now. before the influx of western media, it was considered unattractive to be over 6' in asia. put it this way, if it were evolutionary, 90 percent of men would be over 6' tall now. i'm 5'8" and some change and i'm pretty happy with it.
I've had some experience with being tall as I hit my growth spurt early and for a few years in my early teens was the tallest kid among my friends. In middle school I played center and forward. I pretty much stopped growing around 14 and playing Intramural ball in college I was at guard. It took a long time and a lot of practice to learn to dribble and shoot from outside since I had mostly been taught to post up, block out and rebound. From the brief few years when I was a tall kid it was definately better being tall than small.
If you are very tall look like Gheorge Muresan but can't play ball I can see how there are a lot of disadvantages to being tall. If you are very tall look like Liam Neesan and / or can ball your advantages far outweigh any disadvantages.
average height also has it's advantages. the advantages of being average height is that everything is virtually designed for me. cabinets and doorways are just the right height. clothes are always my size, and i don't look goofy getting out of tiny sports car.

So basically, I can sum up this thread with the following statement: "Being tall has some disadvantages, but having an easier time with chicks offsets all of them" Even the tall dudes are all saying "yeah, but it's easier with chicks". And since damn near everything we do revolves around chicks, I say cry me a river....
awesome! he has totally ruined that joke for me. i have a friend who is 7'. i get frustrated at every ****ing person looking at him like he's some kind of freak show or interrupting our conversation at a bar to ask how tall he is. i can't imagine how annoying it is for him.
My friends place bets on those conversations. Like I mentioned, I'm only 6'6", but I've had people guess as low as 6'1" and as high as 7'.
