Throw a feeler out there, and force Cuban to give him the max 6yrs 120 mill. No way in hell would I sign him for that much, but that doesn't mean I don't think he's a great player. I don't consider him a playoff choker, a lot of times when it's gotten close in the crunch he's actually stepped up for his team. (You can't blame that Golden State or that Miami series on him, in either series he was either gameplanned against (with Nelson doubling him in an unorthodox style) or he actually performed very well and it was his teammates who let him down.) Over time though certain memories stick and render moot the other times he's showed up or fallen short. Dirk has suffered from this and somebody like Kobe who's had more than his fair share of chokejobs (Game 7 anyone?) has benefited immensely from it. It's almost an image thing more than a results thing.
I just think Morey overvalues FTs... and dirk is aguy who can knock down FTs, and draw them. He also flops which seems to match our type of players now... Would be a good fit seeing he can be a playmaker
Even though there is no way we are getting him, he'd would compliment Yao's game well. It would also create massive matchup problems for the opposing team.
Does Dallas even have a GM? Every time a move is made or a topic comes up about FA, Cuban's name always pops up. If they do, what is his name?
Just because Scola/Lowry/Battier tend to flop every now and then, its nothing compared to Varejao or Ginoboli. And why would you NOT value FT %? wouldn't you want a crunch time FT shooter? Would you rather have Shaq shooting your free throws at the end of the game as opposed to Yao? Anyways if we had a shot at realistically signing Bosh or Dirk, I would pick Dirk between the two just because offensive he would give us way more options but like someone said previously, Cuban would rather let hell freeze over before he did a S&T with us for Dirk.
