Mavs announce Dirk Nowitzki has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and will resume on-court activities in about six weeks.

Mavs' release projects Dirk's return to on-court activities as "within six weeks," leaving some wiggle room for an earlier return

By the time this season starts we'll have half the league's top players gone for injuries

Knee has been drained twice this offseason and now surgery? How does Kobe have better German contacts?

Damn, I know we hate the Mav's but I really hope he gets healthy and this knee doesn't become an issue.

more and more reasons why Deron Williams made the best decision to stay in NYC...

This pick however if Im not mistaken is Top 20 protected...till 2017...and then becomes unprotected...in 2018...Dirk is 40 by then...and most likely retired...so really how much value can you really get with the Mavs pick?

Our best hope is to hope for Dallas to be really bad around 2017 onwards...then that adds tremendous value to the pick...

If memory serves me correctly Dirk has been pretty healthy throughout his career and any injuries he has had he's bounced back from quicker than expected. I know you don't heal quite as fast as you get older but I think he'll make an on time if not speedy recovery.

Jeepers, poor Mavs fans. I mean he shows up out of shape last year, has to miss games because of it and now he's hurt. 6 weeks? My heart is breaking for them.

Meh if they can keep being a middle of the pack team until 2017-2018 season, where everything goes wrong and they win the number 1 pick, that would be the best.

Dirk is in the middle of a 3-year, $60 million, post-championship victory lap at the Mavs expense. He's not hungry anymore.

    Mavericks - Dirk, knee surgery
Timberwolves - Love, broken hand...Rubio, ACL tear...Roy, No cartilege
Warriors - Bogut, injury-ridden...Curry, Ankle roll
Kings - DeMarcus and Tyreke, mental issues
    Utah - ???
    Blazers - ???

Maybe we can get that 8th seed after all?
