Dirk Nowitzki is opting out. Can we make a run at him?

That's interesting, since he's still close to Nash.

I think he won't go anywhere, BUT if he really wants to win, this is his last chance to make sure he's on a real contender (sorry, Dallas.) So, will he be looking to land somewhere with Lebron or Wade, for instance? My hunch is no, based on his history. He's just not that driven to get a title, and this is more about getting big money for another 3-4 years, as others have said.

I would really, really hate seeing him on the Rockets. Sorry. That slow, broken-step-ladder jumpshot... in a Rocket uniform. We have our jumpshooter(s) to spread the floor already. We don't need a tall, slow version.

I don't think he would be the answer. Don't really know what the answer is. Probably some kid in high school or jr high. future.

I think he is totally driven to get the title - I think you are really misjudging him here. I am pretty sure he would play for free for the rest of his career if it could ensure him getting a title. I can totally see him doing something like Barkley did at some point (playing for the minimum to get a ring).

See, my thinking is, it is the tail end of his career and he will ultimately end up where it is fun to play. Phoenix is not a bad team to play with. On PHX, he will get his choice of shots, not have to play defense, and be on a decent team. Steve Nash being there is the icing on the cake. All Phoenix really needs to be a contender is a true center... Just not Shaq.

Steve Nash is the only NBA Season MVP not to play in a NBA Finals.

They will make a new, cheaper contract so that Dallas can afford to sign a star.
