    Thank you Knot....

Dirk is the King of Matador.... The guy is weaker than a piece of wet toilet paper.

IMO staying in D-bag town would have stunted Nash's growth and he would not have grown into the assist juggernaut and one of the best scoring PGs in the NBA if he stayed a Mav. Don Nelson was gearing the offensive through Dirk and the ball would not have been Nash's hands as much as the D'antoni Suns system.

I think Nash leaving Dirk and teaming up with a better finisher in Amar'e was the best thing for him, plus getting an offensive system built around his strengths. I'm not a proponent that says Nash + Dirk would have equaled at least a ring, as Nash's strengths aren't fully utilized with someone like Dirk who likes to initiate the offense with the ball in his hands and not as great pick and roll finisher like more athletic bigs like Amar'e.

well then maybe we should be looking to trade brooks and/or martin if we land Dirk, as he surpasses them both offensively

Rockets should go after Dirk now since Houston is not on Bosh's list of teams he's interested in playing.

    Dirk/Hayesyes/Ariza/Martin/Brooks

thats a 50 win team right there

Dirk would not make us a championship team. We have enough defensive liabilities as it is. I'd rather take my chances in the draft than to give up assets for an aging Dirk. What we need is an athletic/defensive big.

No, it's always about the money.

Dirk turns 32 in one month. He is opting out of $21.5 million. There is no way he can get more for that next season, but he is hoping he will get close to that by the last year of his new contract.

Dirk/his agent are smart. They know this is the last big contract Nowitzki will get. They are giving up all that money now and in the end make a lot more.

Nobody wants to give the max for four years to a player who's 33. However, a player who just turned 32 who plays as soft as Dirk should have no trouble getting the max for at least 3 or 4 years.

Cuban will not give up Dirk in a sign and trade, especially not to a division rival. He's staying in Dallas.

Yeah, the only thing Bosh is better than Dirk at is defense and rebounding.

That's not important at all for a big man.

Yao and Nowitzki would make up the best front court in the NBA.

Martin and Brooks consist of the best back court in the NBA.

Battier and Ariza are top notch defenders at the wing position.

If this team gets an upgrade at the PF/SF/PG position this team will be tough to beat for a long time.

It take the following players over Dirk w/ the clock winding down:

    Kobe
    Wade
    LeTravel
    Carmelo
    Pierce
    Ginobili
    Duncan
    Nash

thats all that comes to mind right now...

His defense isn't THAT bad. He just isn't a shot-blocking threat inside and he is unfortunate to play in the same conference as Duncan, KG, Pau and Amare in their primes.

Age is definitely a factor however Dirk's playstyle doesn't rely on his athleticism that much, so he could conceviably play for a very long time. If we have any remote chance of signing him I'd go for it instead of Bosh and if he signs for less than the max. A combo of Yao and Dirk or Scola and Dirk or even Hill and Dirk would be pretty good imho.

Dirk to PHX in a double sign and trade for Amare.

LOL what do you think Bosh is, Dennis Rodman? Let me point out that Dirk with Kidd and Marion reached the 2nd round of the playoffs in the West. Bosh with Marion, Bargnani and Calderon are a lottery team in the Leastern conference.

The only thing Bosh has over Dirk is AGE. That's it. Both of them are sub-par in D and above average in rebounding. Offensively though Bosh hasn't reached Dirk's efficiency or consistency the past few years.

Yao Ming coming back takes care of the defensive concerns. If he doesn't come back we're screwed anyway, I never heard of a team winning with 20 mil on the shelf. What we need is an offensive superstar who can carry most of the scoring load. That way if Yao is out we can sub in Scola in the C position and although the D will be bad the O will exceptional with Scola and a superstar PF as the frontcourt.

Agree on that about Nash. He'da just remained at the level he was at if he stayed in Dallas. The team woulda had about the same arc of success maaybe a little more, which coulda meant a title in 2006. Though all in all, Nash was the better player than Erick Dampier you gotta admit, even with Dallas. Dampier gets bashed alot, he's a serviceable center really like a black Marcin Gortat. But not at almost dollar-for-dollar Steve Nash money.

Again with Nash, who'da thought Nash now at age 35 is a BETTER player than he was age 25-29 with Dallas? And he was 2 time NBA 3rd team with Dallas (another reason he was better than Dampier, thanks for blowing that one Cuban) Can't really blame players for leaving to be the man for more money and spotlight, no matter what the McGrady bashers say about him "quitting" from Toronto to Orlando.
