Well... there's that... screw the NFL... there's local channels and ESPN, NFL Network for that.... It's all about the NBA bitsch.
Nope. DirecTV has all that too. The NFL is the big enchilada. That's why it's exclusive, & that's why the package costs almost double what Hockey & roundball packages do. It's all about demand. DirecTV wins on that alone.
u don't need a houston address to do it. I have 4 rigs and all have directv. They can be in colorado and as long as they can get a zip code its cool. If you have a relative you're cool with or good friend, it will work and he doesn't have to be there eithr.
I had the NFL Package 2 years now. Its great in HD but I got in trouble with the wife alot. You can also add your Fantasy Football players on it and get notified when they score points for you. Its amazing.
Please be aware that if you get the Sports Pack you will still not be able to watch the Astros or Rockets on FSN Houston. DirecTV will black out the games if you don't live in the team's regional area. The only way to watch the Astros and Rockets outside of the area is to order MLB Extra Innings and NBA League Pass. Sunday Ticket is pretty nice. You should be able to get SuperFan for free. When you call them up just say that you are thinking about getting Sunday Ticket and was wondering what kind of deals you were eligible for. That's what I did last year and they offered me SuperFan for free. If they don't offer you anything then just try again at another time. Some CSR's will give you deals while others won't. I really enjoyed having Sunday Ticket with SuperFan last year. The Red Zone Channel is out of this world. Also, I loved watching the Shortcuts. You watch an entire game in 30 minutes.
You must work for Dish. Dish and DirecTV both pretty much have the same programming. The HD are pretty much the same also. Some like Dish's receivers, some like DirecTV's receivers. Price points are the same. The only thing Dish has over Direct is spanish programming. DirecTV has better customer service (they both suck) as they use domestic employees. The company is in better condition, which means better products and services in the future. The technology in delivering the signal is better. DirecTV has more aggressive plans on launching new satellites for more programming. Overall, DirecTV is a better company.
Wasn't rain, I'm in San Diego. Wasn't trees, I lived on the thirteenth floor (unlucky). Wasn't the box because it would work fine at other times. I'd like to think it was the go between company, but can't say for sure.
Is it true DirecTV has prices 10-15% higher than Dish Network to pay for the exclusivity they get with NFL Sunday Ticket, meaning all DirecTV customers pay for NFL Sunday Ticket even if they don't receive it? I saw that somewhere just cannot remember where.
Not really. Sunday Ticket is a huge incentive for people to sign up for for DirecTV. I can't say if they make a killing, as im sure only a very few people know the true negotiated rates. DirecTV's credit requirements are stricter than Dish. DirecTV markets more to the upper end, thus allowing them to charge a big more.
Sounds like you are SOL. I know how hard it is to find an apt in NYC (used to live near the Union Station)
Guess since I don't count myself as "upper end" and don't care for live NFL games besides Texans and what's on network TV, I can sign up with Dish a pay a lower rate for the same quality signal? Sweet.
I heard to get local channels the receiver had to be plugged into a landline. Now with internet phones you can have a Houston number so I guess that wouldn't be a problem.
I just moved to DirecTV from Dish Network a couple months ago. I prefer the DTV service, but I had a horrible installation. They market free installation, but from their description, 99% of installs are custom. They attempted to charge me $250, which I eventually talked down to $160. The salesman that sold me the service told me it would be $50 tops for a custom install. I raised much grief and they gave me my HD free for a year, but it took me several rounds of complaining..
i have had both I prefer the dish receiver over the directv one but thats about it. I've received a lot more programming and certainly a lot more HD channels on directv than i have had on dish (i had that turbohd thing for dish and had the hd platinum package for them) i do like how directv's hddvr does not need to take up two "receiver lines" like the dish network did, we were allowed 4 total receivers on dish and the hd-dvr took up two of them since it had two feeds on it. I've gotten better prices on directv as dish would slowly creep my bill up with fees and all. and on top of that dish dicked around with me last year with NBA League Pass saying that it would be available, but I wasnt able to purchase it at all as the season approached there were going negotiations, apparently it got settled up and customers were able to purchase league pass afterwards but I did not want to go through that hassle. what was nice with directv and league pass was that I got almost nearly every game in HD as opposed to dish network when I would get maybe 1-2 a night. dishnetwork has all the HBO channels (like 6-7 of them) in HD directv doesnt but directv has all the showtime channels in HD but dish doesnt. I think directv also has all the starz channels in HD (both providers have the primary hbo, showtime, starz channel in HD talking about the other channels on those packages) also maybe because I am in my first year of service with them, my directv bill is lower right now because of that but once the "first year" deals are done it will still be about 20 bucks cheaper than my dish network bill for the same time of package
Wanted to bump this thread because I just made my annual call to DirecTV and asked for a deal on NFL Sunday Ticket. I was able to get it with Superfan for only $188 ($200 off regular price.) It NEVER hurts to ask.
