FYI - They all do this. If you call to cancel a service they send you to a retention operator who is there to make you a deal to stick around. So, every year or so, call and threaten to cancel, even if you have no intention of doing so. Harrisment got NFL Sunday Ticket for free for years doing this.
Had Time warner for years in houston. then they swtiched to comcast. I never noticed a difference. When we moved up toward Austin I switched to Direct TV (about 3 years ago). I've had a great experience. I have to monitor my bill creep because I always add channels for the cheap then downgrade when the full price kicks in but over all very happy with Direct TV. I will say Timewarner/Comcast has a better on-demand delivery system but other than that I couldn't see myself going back.
Those sons of b****es, lol. When did you sign up? I've seriously been trying to get them over to my Mom's house to upgrade her to HD since the 26th.
...and if they don't believe your threats then actually have them cancel the service but tell them that you want the cancellation to be effective on a certain date. That way you can call back and try again or if you were just bluffing you can cancel the cancellation.
Most large companies are going to have good and bad customer service representatives, and sometimes circumstances that the person trying to help you just can't resolve. Personally we haven't had any problems with Comcast, but I know others who have. Likewise I know people who have had bad experiences with Direct TV. One negative that I have noticed with Direct TV is that when it is storming outside you sometimes lose your signal all together. Happened watching the Texans game at BJ's in Clear Lake when it was raining hard outside, and it has happened at my friends house before.
Thanks, that's what I figured was going on. I pay for her DirecTV and since it isn't a new service I figured she was at the bottom of the totem pole when it came to getting a tech out to her house to simply upgrade her to HD. I'm cancelling her service and just getting her Dish, they can go **** themselves.
Had DirecTV for 8+ years in Houston. Was very happy with the picture quality. The installers do suck, but I leveraged that into free hardware and programming many times. When I moved to Austin, my new house couldn't get DirecTV due to line of sight issues. Switched to U-Verse and have been very happy with that service as well. No contract on U-Verse to worry about, which is nice. The picture quality is slightly inferior to that of DirecTV, but not to the point that it really bothers me. I'll probably stick with U-Verse going forward.
She's no longer in a contract, and it's minimal cost increase, like $10 bucks a month... so it just isn't a priority, I get it. Still ****ty.
Don't live in Houston. I love DirecTV and have had it for 13 years. That said, they and Larry Scott need to figure out this PAC-12 Network thing. They are gazillions, nay tens of us missing out on our favorite college teams' games.
Question for people who have DirecTV what internet providers do you use I am switching from Uverse (very unhappy about their connection).
